In the Inventory, in resources, there is a blue search icon that appears on some of the items and asterick also, what do they mean?

It means you tagged a material. When crafting you can mark materials you need.

You have those resources tagged/tracked for something (research, crafting)

I wouldn't begin to know how to tag them, must of done it by accident, thanks. So much going on in this game.
