they are randomly generated so what I find on planet XYZ will be different from what you find.

IMO, Leviathan-IV has everything you need!

- Copper
- Aluminum
- Iron

But it is a drag to get there

...i think you will find that yes planets are randomly generated, but most are not randomly placed, i think a lot are place along flight paths and some along the outer edge of know space are place randomly, I don't think that each player has a completely random star map, i could be wrong, but it doesn't feel like it to me.

Moon Andraphon of Planet Sumati in the Narion system has all the base materials needed at the start. Iron, Aluminium, Helium-3, Beryllium and even Europium. If you target an edge of iron and Aluminium/Helium-3 as landing zone you might be lucky to find a spot where at least the 3 first mentioned base resources are present, with even more luck you might even have one of the other resources in there. Copper and other 2nd tier resources can usually be found right at Sumati here as well hence a main base at Sumati with a transport link to Andraphon for base resources might be a good first start IMO.

IMO you should be very picky about the outpost locations you choose as you are hard-limited to 8 for quite some time until you can skill into Planetary Habitation in the last science tech tier where you can unlock further outposts (4/8/12/16). Spreading out outposts across the universe also can make some sense as you then can fast travel to those systems rather easily. Mining Helium-3 in a system should technically even help you to extend the jump range of your ship, but I'm not sure if this is actually working correctly as in my tests I didn't notice a big difference here.

It's less what planet and more what system, I fear - in my experience, at least, you're not going to end up with a single base covering very many resources, meaning you're going to have to have supply links between bases whether they're on the same system or the same moon. So find a system with a lot of planets and moons with a lot of minerals and start plunking things down. I started on Androphon in the Narion system thanks to a random web rec...it looks like the system has a large selection of minerals to mine, so hopefully I won't have to truck much (if anything) in from out of system. Guess I'll see...once I manage to unlock enough to build much.

Androphon is not the best. Bessell III-b is better for the local/utc time conversion alone. Sleep one hour and 57 or 58 hours goes by for utc and utc is what the extractors work on. Build a starting base there for around 1000 credits and you'll have unlimited basic resources. And if you're an xp farmer type person (they should have nerfed that before release imo) you can make bank on xp there too

Im targeting this 5 normally

Tungsten
Nickel
Copper
Iron
Aluminium

This 5 pretty much can create all the basic structure. The most important building is wind turbine. Be is annoying to find but you dont need as much so buying from vendor sometime is enough. It cannot be extreme env too.

He is a must to as you need he for that star distance cargo link. But it is easy to find.

Sol system is doable, but bessel is better i think.
