This doesn't fix the crashing issue, I never had starfield crash. This fixes the intermittent freezing issue where the game freezes for 5 seconds then continuies every minute or so.
And your workaround definitely did it for me.
Thanks a lot !
I am currently using a very conservative -10% limiting, and will try lowering it as it goes.
How much memory is on your GPU? If it's lower than 8GB you can get around this by downloading the 1k or lower textures from nexus mods.
For the record I have a i5 6600K, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 1080GTX (8GB GDDR5), 1TB SSD and another faster RAID setup 2x512GB SSDs. It's installed on the 1TB SSD and keeps up a solid vsync'ed 30fps with mostly high settings on my TV which i'm more than happy with.
There are definately several types of performance related bugs in starfield at the moment, that will more likely be fixed in Bethesda's next patch rather than Nvidia's next driver update.
Did you try limiting your CPU like I said above? No matter how powerful your CPU, if it gets to 100% usage it will start struggling to keep up instructions to your GPU and cause a freeze.
I love you
I love you
I love you
You have fixed by far my biggest issue with this game and omg everything in my life is good now I literally had 80 hrs in this game before discovering your fix and just lived with it cause I loved the game but OH MY GOD everything is so amazing and smooth now.
This mod really fixes stuttering and freezing.
Give it a try.
It's not though, its another way of getting it to be playable on HDD by using the page file instead and makes no difference on an SSD.
Enable performance mode, it fixed for me.
My desktop resolution is 1920x1080
The game offer for changing the resolution is grey colourd.
If i choose the option windowed i can change the resolution to 4k. Than i got freezes for moments. Back to 1080p ingame and no short freezes there.
I am thinkink for changing the desktop resolution to 4k and having a look for my grey colourd ingame resolution setup. Or i go on with 1080p. (cpu 7950x3d gpu 4090) it does not matter me a lot.
I speak from personal experience.
I have SSD R/W 3000+ speed.
There were stutters and freezes during dialogue at the beginning.
Now there is no. The author of the mod describes that the problems initially stem from the buffering functions in the game being disabled for some reason.
