Starfield
Ultra-wide screen not configuring
Hey, so I just got the game and need some help with display settings.
I have RTX 3080Ti and a 49" ultrawide monitor (samsung CRG90)

For some reason this game is locking display at 1280x720 (16x9)

Is there something I am missing?

PLEASE HELP!

Yo I have the same monitor. Its painful even with the newest driver. Best thing is to set your Windows display resolution to 2560x1440 since the game plays like a gem at that resolution.

The reason you can't get the correct resolution is because of your HZ setting, Samsung does not fix this and you will have to tell Nvidia Control Panel manually.

edit: Use geforce experience game profile options. instead of optimize, choose your own settings and you can see all available resolutions. that monitor you need to set the correct overclock for more resolutions
What do you mean by HZ setting? Inside windows advanced display gettings i can change between 59.968 / 119.974. Are you saying because it is not a whole number this is the reason?
Strange on the monitor menu it has the refresh at 120Hz, almost sure that my monitor could do 144Hz as well :/ its been a while since i played around with the settings...

Its because the monitor can run in split mode, you can plug two inputs into it and use two different screens. On DX12 the monitor is funky, im using my other monitor because of it. As far as I know the only way is to manually set the monitor in windows to the exact resolution you use for gaming, otherwise you need to change the hz in order to unlock the proper ratios.

Nice! Thank you for the link. Looks like they are doing great things now from the beginning, and hopefully they continue like they say they will. Sounds like they are going to support this well, probably because how much they spent on its development and ad campaign.

Don't hold your breath though. I predict that the update will come about mid to late October.

Well, i dont even own the game yet and im still using a 3440x1440 monitor. Ive been considering getting a wider screen though when I build my next PC in about a year or so. Its good to know that support is being added on many games now.

I wouldn't recommend it for RPG, Strategy type games... mainly to be used for FPS games.
The main thing that is going to annoy you is the game HUD when using an ultra wide screen.

Good to know. Id mainly be buying it for an adventure/RPG type of experience. So you think its seriously lacking in that area?

There is no 32:9/SUPER ultrawide support right now but supposedly they are working on a fix for it.

I'm running 5160x2160 which is 21:9 and that's the highest [ratio] the game supports at the moment. GL if you try downloading "Flawless Widescreen", otherwise just be patient for the patch.

Edit: Your thread is erroneous, you have a SUPER ultrawide, not ultrawide.

Hey maybe thats my issue too. thought my G9 was just ultrawide but its 49inch. thought was running same as you but im not. im at 5160x1440

So, do many games have support for your super ultrawide 32:9 screen? Thats a really nice wide screen you have, and ive looked at getting one but was worried that hardly any games would work with it without mods.
That 5160x2160 monitor is really tempting too.
Im playing The Surge 2 now and it works great on my 21:9 ratio 3440x1440. It came out in 2019 too and has ultrawide support. Im not sure if it runs on 32:9.

depends on what you mean by support ha ha. some games stretch some work ok. i mean i play skyrim while not native it looks better and fills the screen better than some other new games. and for me even if its not actaully native i feel like if it at least fills the screen im ok with it. fallout 4 doesnt even try to work. soem other games while not really native still fill the screen and thats honestly all i want. and i dont mod most anything. i find that while even not native to my screen if a game fills the screen and isnt ugly af it wins.

Gotcha. With more time, more games should provide better support as these monitors become more mainstream. It seems like a lot more games these days support 3440x1440 at least.
