Crew Bug?

I got Sam Coe as a companion but I can't assign him to my ship crew even after making sure that I had a free crew spot open. Anyone one else run into this problem? It just keeps tell me there no assignment open anywhere.

Same here. The whole assignment system bugged. I can assign only 3 previously assigned crew members to the ship even though I have 4 available spaces.

I assigned Sam to my ship. I had the Shieldbreaker and was able to assign 3 crew members without difficulty. I have something like 7 people on the ship though. I have Sam, Sarah, Barrett, Lin and 3 others. Can't seem to get Vasco to join the crew though. I have had them all assigned at one point but unassigned some. They never left the ship though.

I had the same problem, the crew members do take different stations, but the station itself has his own crew member stat. In your ship overview hover over the stats columns (LAS, BAL, ..) If you hover you see down below how much crew capacity per slot it has, which if you sum them all together you should have only 3 crew capacity available. Having an other crew member which does not work with the ship systems (like Sarah) can still be added as long as you have free crew places (and/or the proper skill to add/command more crew members).

I think I figured it out. For some reason, after updating my ship, some crew members came back to The Lodge. I found them there and "reassigned" them. Now I can assign them to the sip as crew members again.

Thank you for your response, but that was not the issue. The pop up did not show up. When I tried to assign crew members, they simply did not have the option to be assigned to the ship.

Now that I figured the problem, I can again assign them and now I get this pop up saying I need to update the perk to have more crew members.

he right, his problem was the same I was having. All fixed now.

i have the perks for 8 but its only allowing me to have 7 at a time . my ship is setup to allow 10 so its not that

Sarah is bugged and does not count towards the crew roster but takes up a seat on the ship.

Sarah has Leadership, and does not take up a crew slot.
As for above you need higher Ship Command skill, or your save could be bugged.

jigger with the ship I had this happen on a fresh modded game with the frontier it did not show up as a ship in the assign menu so I move some parts around and it showed up
