"Get cache location from Dumas" in Matters of the Hart quest bugged

Destroyed Dumas' ship, looted it, quest won't progress. Quest marker above his empty hull.

Any suggestions?

You need to board it and get the cache location from the Captain's Locker in the cockpit

If you destroy the ship like I did, make sure your Cargo Hold is free enough to loot everything, then the note should be in your cargo hold and you can listen to it to move the quest forward. Bring lots of mines for later.

I found that out after having to unload like five hours of gamplay since i thought it was gone to the void 🫠 I've started manually saving after each successful part of a mission just in case 😅

Is there a way with getting the cache location without destroying the Dumas or it's crew?

I destroyed the ship and looted it and the quest didn't move on till i looked in my ship storage.

Look in your ship storage for "Letter to Dumas" (i think). I pick up something out my ship storage that said Dumas and the quest moved. I was stuck on this quest for a bit. Hope this helps!

You can disable the Dumas' engines and board the ship to get the cache location. You have 9 or 10 security officers to kill but it isn't too difficult. Commandeered the ship, which is a nice class B vessel.

If I destroy the ship, everyone gets mad. If I board the ship and even try non-lethal attacks, they get mad. Is there any way to complete this part of the quest without pissing off all my companions?

Not that I found. This is a totally stupid mission by the devs. You are doing this mission because you have high ratings with Sam, but all it does is make him angry. What a total kludge by the designers.

Just ignore the enemies and grab it from the cargo after you board. Takes meds, but it means you don't kill anyone.

there is no message of any kind in the captains locker or any of the security's bodies. when destroying the ship there is no message to be looted. videos on youtube show people boarding a completely different ship than the one in my game. no quest marker showing location of message. wtf

I read this comment and after that i fought my way to the door to the bridge. There I got fully boosted and then I ran past the bridge personnel, straight to the mission objective - a note "message to Dumas", it was the very first item in the captain's locker. Then running back, closing doors and return to my ship and leave the system. Sam didn't get angry, so it seems to be enough to spare the bridge personnel.

It looks like the mission was bugged for you, because the message should really be in the captain's locker.

I am having the same issue as this. I destroy the ship, there is no message that appears in my cargo hold like has worked for others. I board the ship, there is no message in the captains locker. I can do nothing to proceed with this quest. Looked for console commands online to just give me the correct note but could not find anything

I found the console codes to progress the quest if this happens. You lose the ability to gain achievements if you use console commands, which sucks, but if you dont mind, use the command
setstage 00263262 1000

What all the people above failed to notice was that the ship spawns UC Security mobs instead of Syndicate mobs. The fact they were labeled Security and dropped UC loot rather than Syndicate names should have been obvious.

If you board the ship you are going to lose affinity for killing UC Security.

If you board the ship take the item without killing anyone and then blow up the ship you lose affinity with your entire crew.

If you just destroy the ship when you first meet it there is no affinity loss and you still get the necessary quest item from the wreckage.

Console commands should be avoided, ESPECIALLY in chain quests. When you go all console commando and start skipping stages that is when you skip scripts ending and starting. Script that do things like place the quest item in a container. Next thing you know you cannot talk to Lillian because you broke a script skipping another stage and script.

Update: Still bugged. Tried classic board, Sam goes mad. Only change was that enemies were FC, not UC as before month. So still wrong type of mobs.
But.
After destroying the ship, everybody stayed cool and message was in loot.
