How detect enemies, mines?

Is there any way to detect enemies and mines like VATS in Fallout 4? I'm approaching the Empty Nest in stealth mode. The indicator shows that something is detecting me but I can see nothing. I creep along. A mine triggers. I saw nothing, see nothing. Boostpack up but still take damage. Alert. Reload. Try again. Same result. I can't work out a strategy to avoid enemies and mines, or maybe even grab mines like in F4. Thanks for any help.

On the PC, use 'F' to activate your scanner. VERY handy to see hidden loot boxes, enemies and mines

Just be sure to exit it by hitting 'F' again when you want to start shooting; I didn't have much success trying to use my Cutter to harvest the bad guys, lol! I was like, "FRAK...! Where's my Equinox at!!!>>?" Haha!!

OK, thanks. I had tried the scanner briefly but didn't see anything. Probably I wasn't in range at the time. I'll give it another try.

I can see lootable objects and enemies with my scanner but it doesn't highlight mines. Is that a skill based aspect of the scanner?

I've not got any extra perks so far, but this was my experience when I tried again approaching Empty Nest. I was trying to be stealthy. This is REALLY dark at night btw. The scanner path led me directly between high rocks and showed several enemy right ahead so it would be impossible to get through stealthy. So I backtracked and worked around to the right, circling around real slow, alert that any moment I might hit a mine, and I didn't exactly know what would show in the scanner.

BANG! I died. Never saw a mine until it was ticking and showed RED then exploded - but it did give me a second or two extra to back step out of range - though I had been moving real slow. I doubt it would have helped if I'd not been creeping.

Fortunately, I'd quicksaved not long before. This time I inched forward incredibly slowly...

BANG! I took damage. Same result. (Note that it didn't kill.)

Reload. Try again, half-inching forward. pausing. Quarter-inching forward. Scanning around, trying to see the mine before it triggered. By this time I had a better idea where it was.

Then I glimpsed a tiny shapeless GREEN something in the low foliage. Considering all the other features such as minerals all around, you'd never notice it. And anyway, it was only a step or two away from triggering it. I could not be sure it was a mine because its outline was obscured by foliage, no matter how much I inched sideways, I could see no definite shape. If I inched forward...

BANG!

Reload. This time when I spotted the green 'something' I shot it...

Yep. Fairly sure now that was the mine. But so much for stealth.

Reload. Spotted the green thing. Tried to inch forward to maybe grab it...

BANG!

So, my opinion so far, and with no perks, is it's near impossible to do other than avoid it. Maybe in an open area without foliage once could see its shape better. AND I'd now spent 20 to 30 minutes to get to this point!

Decide to try another day.

Compared to Fallout 4, these seem really tough. In Fallout I can see them FAR ahead in VATS, and I can normally get close enough to grab them. Plus in daylight you can see them if near enough.

No, not work, I don't see highlight mine at all in some case. some mines can't be highlight, and some might do.
