It seems to be the case that neither option has any bad consequences, so it turns out to be a meaningless decision, entirely without weight. The writers really pulled their punches on that one, and at least missed an opportunity to allow some dissent within the ranks of Constellation.
Ungrateful, ignorant people. So ridiculous.
Guess what, you get loaded up with vaccines when you are born and get plenty throughout childhood to protect you. You ignorant science-deniers don't deserve the protection, but you get it anyways.
However, I would agree that it's silly for all the companions to dislike you for exercising caution with a microbe meant to wipe out an entire species. But this game is trash and poorly designed and written so what can you do.
"Understand the science"
"Study the science"
"Test the science"
"Question the science"
All valid, but trust? Trust is a synonym for faith, which has no place in science.
There's no need to be absolutist about this. It's possible to recognize all the great things that have become possible through scientific inquiry without affording to "The Science" some sort of absolute moral authority.
To summarize my long post from just above: scientific inquiry may reveal what we can do, but it cannot on its own dictate what we should do.
Also, it doesn't help your case to lead by insulting the intelligence and/or character of people who disagree with you.
No one here is anti science.
We are anti “doctored” science where the outcome is to push an agenda and drive up profits for some corporation.
My kids are all vaccinated. Except for that obvious one.
Fascinating.
Trust the science guys.
Some NPC was saying that ingame 2days ago, I shot him in the face.
Exactly! They were just giant space cows/chickens that just so happen to greatly enjoy snacking on terramorphs and their larval stage.
I also thought the 'scientist' saying it was impossible to go wrong because it was *ONLY* a one in a million chance and they would monitor. The UC can't already can't monitor all of the known star systems, orbital bodies, and travelling ships (there was even a registered generational ship they completely didn't know about traveling for ~200 years), add to that the fact that on that scale the microbes would far exceed a population of hundreds of trillions, making that mere 'one in a million' chance a statistical absolute certainty that would most likely happen away from their 'observations'.
(It still exists, but modern sources tend to discount or falsely discredit peer review as biased or impeding, because it does not fit the desired result of the study... Sound familiar?)
We currently live in an awkward age where scientific study can be bought.
There's literally still scientific debate about what gravity actually is and how it works, as well as so many other things, which is why the term 'Scientific Theory' is a thing.
