I love the trowback, but it would be nice if the devs tried one first.

It got several safety features intact that makes this everything from unusable to inpractical as a weapon.
It's copy pasted without understanding it's function, then added a open coil in the middle.

Atleast it made me smile.

Not that it can't be a weapon, but you need to hand it over to MacGyver for 2 seconds.

I have found a trillion arc welders and cutters, but never come across an auto rivet or rivet gun. My present character is lv 20. Am i missing something, i would really like to try this weapon for myself :-)

it should start to appear for you soon. A number of guns are opened as you level up, and not available (generally, but may be in fixed locations) at shops or drops until you reach that level (but again, can be in static locations: there are several high level weapons available at level 1 including advanced versions of AA, solstice, regulator that are super easy to find) if you know what POI to troll.

Stuff like this is indeed a poor weapon, will hurt you at point blank range but it lacks any kind of launching that would really work at range. Its amusing, but sort of dumb too. Its like a construction heavy staple gun... it will impale you at skin-touches range, but at even 2 feet it is no different from throwing a staple at someone.

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I want to do a 'Miner's tool,' only run. So my character can only use Cutter, Arec welsder, Rivet gun. I like doing 'silly' runs to add variety to the game after playing for nearly 2500 hrs. I did an eon pistol only run. Shotgun only run, melee only...you get the idea. Iknow I'm crazy, but what he hell... I enjoy it :-)

I've used many nail guns in real life, yet in Rust they tell me to construct one as a weapon option at the beginning. But I know that getting one of those things to fire effectively means putting your meaty little fingers in places they shouldn't be to hold things back to allow it to fire, which is potentially quite dangerous. So it's unrealistic, but still fun. Same for the rivet gun thing.

End of the day I don't look for too much realism in games. Heck every game I've seen the last 3 decades has you finding ammo and firearms everywhere, even in refrigerators, and being somebody who lives in ammo-and-gun-intensive Rural America, I can promise you that even we don't just chuck boxes of ammo and a .38 special revolver into the fridge to keep it from spoiling (or whatever whomever does that is thinking lol).

Thing is they are actually treated as a weapon. I mean you actually find them in weapon crates. I could see if one was laying around some work area and you grab it cause your ammo ran out and it was do or die. But to go into a fight with this as the weapon of choice? It would make more sense to throw coffee cups.
