My adoring fan turned on me

I was wandering around stealing stuff from a colony ship (Ship Landing Site) I found on Helio Moon of Montara and all of a sudden it said the owner caught you stealing. Looking around thinking "What the hell? There's nobody but me and my adoring fan?!"
And then runs up to me and starts shooting me D:
Even happened multiple times when I restarted my quicksave.
Hey buddy, what about the first 5 rooms we looted together, you were fine with those? What happened to worshiping the ground I walk upon eh?
Managed to get around it by telling him to wait in the previous room while I take anything that ain't nailed down.
Gonna put him on timeout after this.

I just ran into this and had to Google it because he killed me instantly.

I wasn't sure what happened exactly so I kept doing some reloading, but I was actually on a quest in a home on New Atlantis, so I thought it might be HIS home. It kept saying owner has noticed me but it was just me and him there so it didn't make any sense lmao.

Once I realized it happened outside this house to other people I just took what a post on Reddit said as fact, he saw his idol stealing and his mind couldn't take it.

I hope in the future they patch it in so that he at least questions wtf you're doing, and if you give him a good enough answer he'll steal for you on command or something. But I doubt that happens sadly.

All reports on bugs aside, I got to say there's something oddly poetic about being compared to an empty toilet paper roll by your biggest fan.
