How do I repair shields?
I have visited the repair tech in new Atlantis but when I ask him to repair my ship for 1000 credits he tells me my ship doesn't need repairing. I have a ship repair module in my inventory under Aid so what am I doing wrong?

you mean your shield has red bars that dont let you power it up? those are fixed over time - tho im notsure if you NEED crew for it to happen - since the crew always comments on repairing components for me

You don't have to repair shield, your ship have a shield and a HP bar.

But shield regenerate by themself if you put power on your shield (and have shield installed, not sure you HAVE to put shield in order to validate it :o)

In case you forget or don't read tutorials;

Maintain left alt key and use AD to move the bottom left of your screen system select, and change the power of your systems with W / S.

In order to be able to have 100% shield, you have to have them totaly powered (all bars white)

Weapons work diferently. They ever do max dmg / max cadency, but the more power you put in them, the better they "reload / cooldown" and therefore the more frequently you can shoot :)

I think the 1000 credit thing is an error, I get the same thing. But I found to repair shield during combat, I had to hit zero on my number pad, NOT my numbers at the top of my keyboard, strange, but, try remapping.

Yeah I know, didn't feel like editing.

If your shields aren't regenning to 100 make sure to check your power allocation to your shields

Did you remove the shield generator in "build-a-ship"? A ship can fly without one, but the pre-flight during "build-a-ship" will warn about it.

Do you have any power to the shield generator?

Damaged shield generators will slowly repair themselves over time (some found-lore explained something about nanowhatsits) which can be made quicker with the right crew. Shield HP will return over time based on the power allocated to it—more slowly as the shield generator is damaged past the power allocated to it.

If the person in charge of ships says there's no damage, then there's supposed to be no damage to any component including the hull and shield generator. Something else is wrong.

What are the exact symptoms you are experiencing when using the shields?

side note - arrow keys work as well.

Oh, didn't know thanks :o but seem not that comfy to move the hand all around kb, potentially in fight o_o. Maybe nice for left handed? :o

I rebound the key assignments for power distribution so that 1 and 2 increase/decrease the power distribution. The number keys aren't used for anything else when flying your starship, and those were a lot more convenient for me than the defaults.
