Changing home ship

Well, I'm now 19 lvl, with my 1st 2 dragonshouts. Working on picking up the third. The game seems to play better as you learn what's expected. This is just a quick note for anyone else who has fallen for that fairy story in the help files about changing home ship being done via the 'ship' menu. Twaddle. You need a ship services technician to swap em over for you. View .modify your ship(s) and you'll see a 'h' option available which you don't get when on your own.

From what I've seen, you can also do this at your own bases, but only if landed on one of the big landing pads, small ones doesn't work.
