No matter what, I have stuttering/freezing, extreme audio lag
Hi everybody. Im desperate because im not able to proper play to Starfield and my configuration is enough
rtx 4070 / i7 10700k / 32gb ram / SSD nvme

I tried all the tricks i read on the net, loxer resolution, try the pure dark mode, ran as administrator, without upscaling
no matter what when i go out from inventory vendor or pnj, the audio cut and the screen start freezing, the 5 or 10s after everything is ok
The worst is for the weapon : when i change it or when i aim , the sound cut so much and i can shoot i hear it 10 s after and then eveything back to normal
I dont even speak about the extreme loading screen
I dont understand ..
And i double check 1000 times my game is on SSD..
If u have any advice ...
thx u

Had exactly the same problem since the 1st September, and I tried everything recommended to fix it, nothing did.

What eventually fixed it for me was turning off hyper-threading. Now it runs much smoother; it still freezes occasionally, maybe once or twice an hour, but the weird audio lag is gone.

No way its on your SSD lmao

i9-9900k and a 2070 Super; runs amazing for me. Buy better components next time and maybe put it together properly; delete the porn and viruses etc.

Battle Encoder Shirase may solve your issues, they did with my antique i5-6600k. Run it between 5% and 8%.

This sounds exactly like what a friend experienced--before he got an ssd. Is it a SATA SSD or m.2?

You need to install it on an SSD instead of your HDD. I learned this from personal experience.

SSD required its on the specs

This game is really heavy on the CPU it may be a cooling issue.

is it external? that's what was doing it for me. As soon as I installed an internal SSD into the M3 slot the performance improves remarkably

All anyone ever says is SSD! Mine did the same and it is on an M.2 drive. It isn't a hard drive issue. When it happened to me CPU usage would shoot up from about 20-30% and GPU usage would drop to 0%. That isn't normal, something odd is going on.

Download DLSS mod from Nexus, and follow the instructions... you need to install that shader thing, then DLSS, then enable FSR 2.0 in Starfield and then enable DLSS, set it up with frame generation and all the doodads and ur good to go... I play on all ultra with DLSS mod on RTX 4060 and i7 13620H and 16GB RAM and also installed on Samsung 980 Pro NVMe SSD and the game runs 60 ish FPS with minors dips here and there... (Yes I play trough gamepass cuz the game aint worth it so I refunded it on Steam but still testing it out in case its worth on sale some day)...
