Xmp profile or custom settings? Pass memtest?
Go with the clean driver install but if that's not it maybe the next place to start looking.
Last night, I enabled XMP in my PC's bios for the first time, just to see, if I could a couple more fps out of that. 30 minutes later, the game crashed (for the first time in 40 hours), another 30 minutes later, the whole computer crashed.
I disabled XMP afterwards and am playing without crashes since.
Might be my machine or the game, but my XMP and Starfield don't get along^^
perhaps something in here:

Then why did you bother to post? Thanks for absolutely nothing I guess lol
The error can have several causes, including:
Corrupted system files
Outdated, incompatible, or corrupt graphic drivers
Problematic applications
Overclocking your PC
Motherboard issues
Faulty RAM
Malware infection
It seems that the most likely case is that the game may be pushing your hardware to the limit and causing an issues. Perhaps try messing with the graphics settings on your game to see if it helps. Maybe start on low graphics with any unnecessary fancy settings turned off or way down.
clean out the old one and install the newest one available like you said at the end of ya post
also turn steam overlay off that does cause issues
I don't know if it's luck or not but the BSOD hasn't reappeared. That doesn't mean it won't in the future, though. This game really does seem to have a certain amount of PC related kinks it has to sort out. It wouldn't surprise me if our BSODs had to do with that as well.
But apparently Todd's answer is to "buy a better computer" which doesn't give me a lot of hope for Bethesda's PC support going forward.
