It's basically a railgun variant of the minigun.
You have a Magshear, Magpulse, Magstorm, and the Magsniper.
In terms of weapon grades, you go from Base item, to Calibrated, to Refined, to Advanced, to Superior.
If a Eon does 6 damage, then a Superior Eon will do 60.
In terms of levels:
1-20 = Legendary Base item is common.
21-40 = Legendary Calibrated is common.
41-60 = Legendary Refined is common.
61-80 = Legendary Advanced is common.
81+ = Legendary Superior is common.
Without giving too much away, I can compare it in action to the Heavy's description of his minigun in his TF2 intro video; firing the thing is costly but by the late-game, you should easily be able to afford the expense.
