Mathis' Unique Weapon He Finds at the Lock
Question to those who are farther ahead in the game.

So, Mathis gets what apparently is a unique weapon at the Lock. I tried logging to an earlier save and tried to get the weapon first, but can't interact with it, and we can't kill Mathis. Is it possible to get this weapon later on?

I just completed this mission and want to know what the gun is too. Tried reloading into that room and there's no way to beat him to it or interact with the chest/weapon at all. He's essential so no way to kill him either. Nor can you pickpocket him so having rank 4 in that is useless.

I wanna know what happens to it. I got him as a follower and that gun is just… gone.

Hoped that getting him kicked out would intoduce an encounter where looting his body for that gun would be an option. Never saw him again.

That's called the Magstorm, it starts spawning at higher levels above 40s by most enemies.

It's basically a railgun variant of the minigun.

You have a Magshear, Magpulse, Magstorm, and the Magsniper.

In terms of weapon grades, you go from Base item, to Calibrated, to Refined, to Advanced, to Superior.

If a Eon does 6 damage, then a Superior Eon will do 60.
In terms of levels:
1-20 = Legendary Base item is common.
21-40 = Legendary Calibrated is common.
41-60 = Legendary Refined is common.
61-80 = Legendary Advanced is common.
81+ = Legendary Superior is common.

You can actually look for a minor companion out there that has the skillset to utilize the Magstorm. There's a video on that.

It is a Magstorm, made by Kore Kinetics. I have seen it once at the manfacturer's storefront and test range, and it can be found in weapon crate/cases or as a loot drop further along in the game.

Without giving too much away, I can compare it in action to the Heavy's description of his minigun in his TF2 intro video; firing the thing is costly but by the late-game, you should easily be able to afford the expense.

Problem with that, I’m not playing the game for pure stats. I like Mathis, I enjoyed him through the quest line, I like his backstory, he’s a cool character. However he had a unique weapon specific to him, and I would like him to continue using it as he follows me.

I assumed it's so he can help with the rest of the quest event. I guess they could have given him a pop gun so everyone would not care about it.
