Issue with talkative Background "Citizen" NPCs

there should be a priority preventing randos from just blabbing when a Named NPC is talking.

ive found myself actually cursing out loud IRL when this occurs lol.

i wonder if the experience of the player in Starfield has any analogues to sociopaths from our real universe. do they see the rest of us as talkative background NPCs? i mean, think about it. if you dont consider the NPCs in Starfield as real or at least try and treat them similarly, are you not more likely to be cruel or even barbaric in your possible interactions?

...anyways. it's single player... if you are a raving mad lunatic in-game i suppose no one else needs to know. if you knife a rando Citizen for talking to you about his jock itch while you are trying to listen in on a Named NPC's discussion involving possible murder and intrigue, could anyone really blame you?

I always find it cringe when random NPC start talking in a game. Like who even asked, i'm just passing by. Who even tells their lifestory to random passing people.

the game is actually really good and for the most part the randoms leave me be. but some of the "cities" are super cramped which i think triggers them into more speech than you find in other loccations with more open space like New Atlantis. it can still occur if your population settings are set really high. i thought it was a really neat feature for them to allow the player's settings adjust how many randoms appear... say for instance if you take issue with crowds... but i found that turning it way up ate up a lot of my CPU like having many units in an RTS game.

That happens in Elder Scrolls games, too. If you turn on subtitles, you can maneuver around and away from the chatty NPC stepping on the dialogue so that you only see the dialogue from the NPC you're talking to.
