Why can't I wear a mask in Starfield?

I don't want to be too harsh here guys, so if extreme language triggers you, please read no further.

That said, I'M OFFENDED.

In case the incredibly insensitive dev team at Bethesda didn't notice, the horrific new SARS-CoV-2 variant called BA.2.86 is currently ravaging the world's population, and in my few hours into this game, I've seen many NPCs with their helmets off, and NOT A SINGLE ONE is wearing a mask. What kind of precedent do you think that is setting for players? There are TRANS KIDS fresh out of their gender transition surgeries, pumped full of immune suppressants, and YOUR game is telling them they're safe from COVID. That it's okay to be in a crowded space city without a piece of jersey cloth over their faces.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE. It's current year, games industry. Try to be more responsible. Without you guiding us, no one would survive. Do better.

Also, if you're as offended as I am, I've been told you can refund the game even if your past 2 hours of play time. Save lives and send Bethesda a message. We need a mask patch in Starfield ASAP.

Too dangerous. I won't expose myself or my wife's boyfriend's dog to the risk of COVID. I've tried putting an M95 mask on him, but he fights me and it won't get a good seal over his mussle.

In Cyberpunk, everybody smokes. In Starfield, nobody smokes. I also haven't come across a single illegal drug in all of New Atlantis.

I'm deadly serious. It's almost evil how they made the majority of NPCs people of color, when COVID has harmed them the most. It's almost as if they're trying to attack the POC community by spreading this misinformation that they'll be safe from BA.2.86 it's enough to suspect there are some RACIST devs on the Bethesda team imo

You can find a face mask. Dunno where I found it, but I made it part of my character's outfit permanently because I dig masking my characters up.

There's just a tremendous lack of character equipment customization in general. There are no hoods, masks, nor balaclavas, and there are only a few hats.

Most of the apparel I found were also just reskins or recolours of already existing ones.

This is just borderline laziness by BGS. They're relying on mods again.
