Starfield is overrated and sucks

Here we go again. Another AAA game that is overhyped by everyone on social media as the next coming on christ and the once in a lifetime evolution of Bethesda studios. Similar to Baldur’s Gate 3, this is another game with a lot of hype and positively surrounding it’s release that was just overwhelming disappoint leading the game to be very overrated and sucks.

I am sure everyone wants to see what the hype was about and all of social media and review blogs were praising it so surely it’s a great game right? Wrong. There are a lot of issues with the game. First off, the standard edition is $70 USD, which is $10 than Baldur Gate 3 coming in at $60, which honestly is very shocking and disappointing to see game prices now reach the standard of $60-$70 for the standard game. Then, we have $100 for the premium edition for some extra skins but the main appeal is a DLC we have no idea when it’s coming or how much it’s worth. It could be like 1 hour of content, we don;t know but here we are shelling out $30 for it and waiting who knows how long when probably the next “big thing” has come out and this game is long forgotten. Who thinks this price is ok? Games used to be free to play, or a few dollars, now they are treating $70 or $100 like it’s nothing. People have to eat, pay rent, they have lives outside like schools and work, how are they going to have time and money to drop this much on a game, not to mention those who can’t play. Let’s not even go into equality because everyone should be allowed to play, yet people are gatekeeped from this game simply by not being able to afford this astronomical prices for one singular game. You can get a few smaller indie games or f2p games for less than half the cost of the standard edition. You are dropping $70-$100 on this one single player game who knows how long will last before it’s irrelevant. .

Next, we have lot’s of in-game issues. FPS issue, long loading screens, drivers not working, limited planet exploration, and the recently brought up pronoun issue in games. Let’s start with FPS and drivers. Many people are saying that you need a decent SSD just to run the game. So people with older HDD’s or those who can’t afford SSDs as they are more expensive than HDD’s are forced to either upgrade and shell out even more money to play this one game or not be able to play as well. How is that fair? A game should be accommodating to anyone no matter their tech. We are already shelling out $70-$100 for this game, and we are expected to pay additional fee’s just to open and play the game we paid for. That’s like going to a restaurant, paying for the meal and the tip that comes after is OPTIONAL, we should not be forced to pay extra to use something we paid for. Lot’s of people are experiencing lag, glitches, crashes, and are having a suboptimal game experience as well from that but everyone else is going “oh boo hoo, let’s excuse that and rain more positivity on this godsend of a game”. Tons of other bugs and issues.

Limited Planet Exploration an issue heavily debated, they were confirmed before to be vast expansion to explore the full planet but devs are lazy and didnt develop past a certain point. It’s a singleplayer game, we already arent having multiplayer, so let us explore to our hearts content but nope, you shouldnt be exploring after “40 minutes” . Devs couldnt be bothered to make worlds limitless when in reality actual planets are way more expansive and explorable than any of the planets the game shows. Not to mention the gameplay, have you seen the character models, way people talk, how the combat is? People shooting a weapon and the opponent has barely any reaction or flinching with a standard HP bar? That’s the next coming of christ game of 2023? This is the next Game Awards game of the Year? Really? Standards are so low, it’s another generic mill game designed to milk money with a new skin. Slow start, horrible tutorial, just mining and slow exploration, the occasional space and raid on reskinned assets. How is this fun? It’s tedious, not fun.

Now let’s get into the recently brought up issue of Pronouns in the game. I believe a game should be free of political messages and just be there to have fun and escape the real world and be fictional. Yet they push the woke mob’s agenda of having a gender pronoun selection. I have never seen this forced down my throat in any game recently, not in Baldur Gate 3, Not in Elden Ring, none of this except this game. It’s clear the side the Devs are on and what agenda they want to push. We had none of this gender/pronoun nonsense until the 2020’s where it all started going downhill. Remember the peaceful days of 2000’s to 2010’s where we never had any of this pronoun crap? Name one area you saw people saying pronouns in 2001, Ill wait, because there wasnt any! No one was focused on that, in old lobbies of COD everyone could say whatever without punishment or fear, those were the days. Then we transitioned into an era of Minecraft and everyone had fun, and still none of thse pronouns. Then early 2020’s started and suddenly we have infinite genders past male and female, and people can be whatever like attack helicopter, and people were pushing it down our throat until it completely took over. Now if you don’t join in the pronouns or support what the woke mob said you are outcasted, shunned, fired, punished and so much more for not sharing in the “woke” belief that is currently popular. What happened to freedom of speech? What happened to freedom of opinion? That’s just the least of it with bare bones customization, character doesn’t even talk and actual npc models with how they move and talk. There’s a lot of other gameplay factors that I can get into but let’s move this along, it’s already long enough.

For everyone that found out the game wasn’t all that great, or realized the hype wasn’t to be bought into and refunded or quit, I am happy for you. I am seeing more and more posts after the game’s launch as more people experience it and realize it isn’t all that great, I live for that to see people make their own judgements. I would say I told you so but I won’t gloat. People can never listen over the 100+ positive reviews that are shilled or faked from others, those who jump into the hype and clout trains for views, clickbait articles and videos and all that. History always repeats itself.I am happy people are starting to develop their own opinions and see for themselves what the game truly is and are refunding. Those with Gamepass are smart as they didn’t pay the full price but still lost time in the game. Everyone please realize that you shouldn’t buy into the hype trains or positive reviews, you have to listen to the critical opinions and not be stuck in your own echo chamber. Play the game and form your own opinions. Many waste their time and money on the game and either refund or never touch it again and the next big thing comes out and everyone jumps onto that and forget this game soon enough. There’s so many other issues but ill just end here, there are many other sources if you want to further research. Sadly, being a critical opinion piece I expect this to just be downvoted and disagreed with by all the fanboys which is sad because then no real discussion is taking place. I don't read these, I just block the person. Most of these are just complaining. Hey not everyone likes every game. I'm one of the few that didn't really like Witcher 3. But I didn't shout it from the rooftops and claim it was terrible. Most games have faults, design decisions that people don't like, bugs etc. The massive hate is just toxic. People are gross and insist on puking all over everyone.

Didn't read anything past the title when I saw the length of the post. For me I'm 42 hours in and having a blast. To each their own I suppose.
