Anyone know how to find a biome you aint visited?
I am trying to finish off Nessoi and I am left with one creature to scan. Every place I have been shows biome complete and all places I attempt to land show the biomes are 100%, which if a biome is incomplete it shows a % on your landing menu.

I'm having this same issue on Nesoi (Olympus system). I've got all of these biomes at 100%:

Sandy Desert
Deciduous Forest
Frozen Volcanic
Savanna
Mountains

Fauna 7/8
Flora 5/5
Resources 8/8

I can't for the life of me find any other biomes on this planet by clicking around in the map view. Just those above, all showing 100% (and going to any shows 'Biome Complete' on the 'Fauna 7/8' line of the scanner HUD).

Found it ! The advice in this article https://www.gosunoob.com/starfield/100-planet-survey-missing-last-fauna/ lead me to checking out a coastal area (pain to land close enough, even then it was a few minutes walk).

For me it was the 'Flocking Saturnine Grazer' that was missing. Saw my first one on the shore right by the water, and then others in the water.

I guess whilst you can't land *in* the ocean, it counts as an additional biome ?
So when you click to land somewhere on a planet it’ll tell you what biome it is and what scanning percent you’ve completed for that biome.

OK, yeah I had the same thing. I actually found out about fish a few days ago after posting this.

Basically if you are in say Hills and you are like 4/5 and cannot find a 5th fauna then you need to go find a hills coast and look in the water.

Helpful trick:

If you try to land IN the ocean from the planet map, and there is something to scan in the ocean, it will display as "OCEAN (0%)" although of course you cannot land there.

If there's nothing to find it just says "OCEAN" with no percentage.

I literally said that in the first post.

Ok, this is the problem.

Notice where it says "Savannah Coast 100%"

When you first land it will say Biome complete:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3032657344

When you get to the coast it changed to this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3032654788

As you can see I completed it:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3032663200

I advise using my screenshots to land where I did. Unfortunately I will be unable to use the local map to show which direction from the landing site to run because POIs are procedural and different for players.

Be VERY careful because the water can kill you as seen in screenshot 4 above.

I just saw a video that also suggests trying landing near the poles to get a different sampling. But landing near an ocean also sounds like a useful tip. I have to say that i have frustrated so far by my inability to get 100% at surveying in any planet, and from this discussion and the video i mention, i now gather that getting to 100% might require selecting one or more arbitrary locations to land in.

Well look at my post above that explains part of the problem.
Almost every planet I could not get 100% had a damn fish on it.
Some of the biomes will not misread 100% like on Nesoi so that makes it easier.

So what you need to do is follow my advice and go to the mineral map (so you cna see the oceans) then click along the costs to find coastal version of the biomes. Land and then find the water, good luck on that on some planets because you cannot always see the water direction form your ship. Which is because when you ask for a coastal landing then landing near the coast so you can see the water makes too damn much common sense for a Bethesda developer.

Oh, and I've definitely found *some* spawns of a few fauna in caves, although I did eventually find some of that one outside as well (mostly close to the same cave... but that might just be because I'd not spotted any/many elsewhere yet).

So, definitely check in caves as well !

Yes, handy if you notice that before just going to land there, but that doesn't help with actually finding "where the heck have they hidden the other biome(s)?".

This thread has helped me greatly. Nice!

did you try to land in a Costal biome (need to land near ocean) and scan for sea life ?

Ok, I found the issue, it is sorta complicated.

For some planets it will show coastal biomes as being 100%, when they are not.
When you choose to land in a coastal biome you do NOT land in the coastal biome. So it will show "biome complete" because you are in the completed non-coastal version.

What you need to do is run to the water and when you cross into the coastal biome you should change form "biome complete" to incomplete.
