Peoples refunding their 100$ EA to purchase the Regular edition hours before launch ?
That's sound like a scam to me. Do they get to keep their progress too (saves) ?

I refunded the game and I will not be buying it again.
Most people that refund do so because they think the game is a huge mess, has massive issues and are not as advertised

Valve will obviously see if people refunded and then rebuy. Abuse like that is often something they are aware of.

I refunded due to performance. I'll buy it again in a bit if they fix it or if new drivers do.

Your progress should still be saved locally so yes.

I'd love to know for sure, if that's the case, then it's crazy they allow this. Play for 5 days straight, 30-40 hours, refund it, buy the cheaper version and carry on playing.
Yes sir I just did. But not buying base edition. Just a refund. Game is just trash

Yes, as long as you store your saves in the Cloud / on an hard drive.

I'm amazed Steam is allowing this. Basically you can scam your way into playing early access for free.

you cant refund after 2 hours. I refunded after 67min of gameplay. I hoped for a better Star Citizen but got a loading simulator with Space Wallpapers. This game is bad

they refund it mainly cause the EA has A TON of performance issues, expecially for nvidia.
tho, iunno what they expected from EA. early access literarly means "game not finished yet, its in an early state" i mean, technicly can you not use that as excuse but, if they fixx those performance issues when the game launches could they literarly just abuse it as excuse.

aka "you played in early game state mode, you opted in for that, your fault blabla".
still mean but they literarly could say that IF the game suddenly runs for everyone fine on release XD. (which i honestly doubt, except some miracle happens. hogwarts legacy needed about 1 month before the game was running stable for mostly everyone).

"Refunds on Pre-Purchased Titles
When you pre-purchase a title on Steam (and have paid for the title in advance), you can request a refund at any time prior to release of that title. The standard 14-day/two-hour refund period also applies, STARTING ON the game’s release date."

TL;DR before a game's official release date you can refund at any time, regardless of time played.

I hope their account gets terminated, or banned for a month at least.

It is the law.
You would be surprised about what you could get away with. As a European (member of the EU) I could legally refund any of my current games, no matter the time played, if I disliked it and think it broke stuff during an update.

Nobody wants to do that ofc and fight for it, because it would harm you more than help you ofc.
But in this specific case, its different. This game is not technical released yet (its Bethesda´s own fault for doing EA to people that preorder) and that means that you always have the right to cancel your preorder.

This is in the law and it should be so.
If Todd instead have said. We release this in a full EA (techincal released at that date then, in EA form) and estimate it to be 3-6 months before full release, then I would have not been able to refund past those two hours.

Again.. the law is on the side of the consumer here and I dare say it was a good thing in this case with Starfield. I do also agree, that if people refund to buy it the 6th, its problematic, but I reckon still technical legal, albeit Valve is sure to keep an tab on that.
thats literarly wrong.
because valve has its refund policy set in stone. if valve would bother to go over a game refund into court with you would you literarly loose and sitting on the court bill aswell because you lost. the reason for that is simple. you can read said terms and you automaticly agree to it whenever you buy a game on steam. valve just doesnt bothers to go into court over a a few bucks. if you would have a game in your library which costs 1m USD and you would try to refund it but exceeded the refund window can i tell you for sure that valve would go into court with you xD.

This is fairly common knowledge, surely Bethesda knew this and accounted for it.
