I'm from Germany as well, so I can understand his concerns.
I don't have that issue as I simply play my games in english language with english text. So now issues here. But, let's put it in other words: what would French ppl do if their government simply starts changing their beloved language just for more so called "gender equal speech"? Bet there's a riot for that on the roads of Paris right now.
C'mon. Language should evolve naturally. All the stuff that had happened especially in the last decade is horrendous. It's not simply "modernizing a language" or something. It's excorcicing it's very soul. And for now good! Even the officials acknowledge there's no support at all for that in the population. 95% of the ppl asked are against artificial changes in our language regarding "gender equal speech". Well, guess if we're all good democrats, we actually should respect the majority, shouldn't we?
I, surely, do.
Also, why are you so triggered?
And yes the world does get better as everyone is exposed to more content that shows all people being treated equally. It's incredibly important for kids growing up with racist and bigoted parents to learn that it's not acceptable and that the lies their parents each them isn't true. It's the only way to break this cycle. What I want to know is why do you have a problem with this? Why are you a racist?
Thank you for that information but I didn't down speak the holocaust. You may want to read my post again. It's important that we remember what happened so we don't repeat it. And sadly there are a lot of people in America who are trying to repeat it here. If you lived in USA you would know what is happening in our country right now and how people here are actively trying to eliminate other races and sexual preferences and eve women's rights again. I am pro human rights. if you thought otherwise based on my post your mistaken. nothing I said mentioned anything about being against human rights.
New gender pronouns have been around in English since at least the late 1700's. Use of "they" as a gender neutral pronoun goes back to 1300's. Other gender neutral pronouns in early use include Xe, Ze, Phe, Er, Ou, and ne in newspapers in the mid-1800's.
So, there's that. But, please, do continue.
There's history repeating over and over and over again. It doesn't start with "12 dark years in Germany", no matter what ppl may think. History's older and comes with a lot of surprises if you give it a try.
Lets say: how much worth is a human life can be simply answered when you check who's making money with sick and dying people. There's no such thing as "Human Rights" if it blocks someone making money from it. Hard lesson learned in the past 3 years. And the "gender stuff"? If people start treating their bodies like they're Avatars of a computer game that simply can switch gender and appearance, they start losing what makes them human: their flaws and traits they were born with.
And a lot of people paid that prize already.
Spieler*Innen genießen das Spiel!
Yours Highness. Theirs King.
Same goes for Thee.
Normal Folk never used these. Maybe as a Joke, but never seriously.
Same goes for German btw. There you also use the Third Person for Higher People.
Ihre Majestät for example.
And im not sure, but no one on this Planet has done anything for me to get the resprect to get reffered to as King or Queen except maybe my Mom and my Dad.
Well, I like my binary pronouns. "She" and "He". If ppl have trouble with that and need a "They", sure, go ahead. I just don't want to be put in the same lot with them as I'm not troubled with my biological gender. It's the same as my social gender. Speaking of which: social gender is a construct, biological gender is not.
To get back to the game's issue in German language: "Bewerber*innen" (Applicants) is highly offending to read for anybody with a feeling for the language. Tbh, I don't feel adressed by that: I'm a "Bewerber" (male form of applicant). I'm not a "Bewerberin" (female form of applicant). Also, non-binary ppl aren't included in that term. Guess we can't go without discriminating half of all people, right?
That is not what the rules in Germany say at all
What can't be used is the weird internal I as well as all the * stuff
There is a third "other" option on official documents and you will be called what it says in your papers (wich can bei one of the 3) they just won't use the weird af way of trying to write with all pronouns at the same time they some try to push
