BUG "The Empty Nest"

so i went to the town on akila originally and didn't take sam along as i didn't want to progress the story yet and wanted to do more side stuff and explore, fast forward a few days and i go back to do the quest line and now i cant find sam anywhere, i go to the marker and hes either underground 1500m away from town or miles high pretty much in space and i cant see him either way. has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix?

I had a similar problem, for me I went back to the lodge and found him outside under the ground so I noclipped and talked to him to get him as my companion. Eventually I had the same problem with his daughter but she was just walking around in the city.

That being said I can't confirm whether he'll be where I found him or not, but its worth a try.

I think my issue especially was my ship layout is bugged and both too low to the ground and the bay door is inaccessible (Despite it being connected correctly)

I've tried going back to the lodge and he wasn't there, tried changing back to the original ship because started to think that the ship i had might've caused it, reasons but spoilers so ill leave it at that,

Ended up having his marker just vanish altogether now and no longer going cave diving or flying, still in the quest log but isn't on any planet or anything that i can see

kinda hoping there's a way to fix this without using the commands but couldn't find anything when i went googling about this but it does seem this quest is a little buggy

i did also do one of the others in the 3 you get given while he was bugged out which makes the people at the lodge move around a bit and change places when you hand it in so not sure if that would've messed around with the him being at the lodge at all

Hello everyone, does anyone know how to fix the bug with an empty nest, I took the artifact, but the quest does not close due to the fact that I brought the artifact to the Lodge

Fixed -_- ( set in console setstage 000114C9 900 ) but u don't have any achivments after that method

any idea i this would work for earlier stage of this quest? i'm stuck at speaking to sam and going into the bank as i managed to make it bug out by doing the bank robbery bit without having sam with me, accepted losing achievements if i need to i can always make another run through to clear out achievements later on

tried your tip with the set stage and it worked had to go back through the rest of the stages but it got me past it got half the achievements anyway so all wins.

hit another problem straight after where it wouldnt let me land or travel anywhere so i was stuck in space, tried all sorts of commands for like 3/4 hours ended up having to make a new save and lose the 75 hours i put into that for the moment
conclusion dont go to akila if you have matey with you if your not going to do the quest straight away

my issue is i can take the artifact but of course i get no update on leaving the cave or anything not even sure if its safe to keep playing past that part in the quest or just do the other one past the first temple

So I'm stuck going with Sam to speak to Jacob. It hangs trying to enter the COE estate. It just hangs/infinite loading

You can wait a long time for the fix) if you want achievements in Steam, do other quests, I do fractional quests, the storyline has almost not started yet, but it seems to me that this is not the only such bugged quest, the praying mantis quest is also bugged (
