Not optimized for PC at all
My specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU
Radeon 6900xt GPU
16GB RAM
SSD

If I set the graphics settings to low, for every setting at 1080p resolution, I still get constant stuttering, screen tearing, and my frame rate is all over the place, between 40 and 55 FPS. My computer is above recommended specs for this game. There is something very wrong with the performance of this game. I'm going to keep playing because I really like this game, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone until it's fixed.

This is especially annoying because it seems to be running so smooth on consoles which are much less powerful. Looks like it was just optimized for Xbox. PC gamers getting shafted AGAIN.

I am running this on a last gen i5-9600k@ 3.7ghz, 32gig ram@3600, rtx 2060 super and a evo ssd. The mainboard is a gigabyte 370z gamer sli and it is working out of the box with no adjustments without pauses, stuttering or any pausing of any kind. The game on install set everything to medium and is running at 1920x1080. I don't know why the super computers are not running this other than possible driver problems with the new boards.

4090s shouldn't be struggling to hit 60fps at 1440p. This game is held together with gum & spitballs

I'm on PC with a 3090 and i7-13700k. The game looks beautiful and have seen literally no bugs, optimization issue or anything.

I fixed it by going to the Starfield.exe while playing and setting the priority to "normal". It was at above normal by default. Now it's no hitching, stuttering, stopping, de-syncing or anything. Just smooth. Hope this helps!

According to professional hardware reviewers the 4090 should be averaging 100fps at 1440p. If you dont its likely an issue with your system.

Give them some time I am sure they will patch it to work just like that other space game had to do.

Its normal for tripple A this days. Not optimized at all at release... I just wait for performance patch with uwqhd. Otherwise not playable to me by microstutter. Iam sure they working on it. Forums are full of performance topics.

Game being done for AMD hardware first and foremost and for consoles at that. Optimisations relating to pc perf only stretch as far as AMD cards and FSR are concerned and next to no effort made to bring that to nvidia API’s or even introduce DLSS constitute artificial gimping.

I'm not having the issues the op has. The game is very playable. Not choppy, I survived the nova galactic space station gang war between the ecliptic pirates and spacers. And im on hdd (yes really, admittedly im on 720p and fsr but everything else is ultra and i have i9 cpu, 2060 super and 64gb ram to make up for the hdd)

I'm playing, i luv the game and enjoying it. However 70 fps on 4080 rtx is a joke.
In my instance on my 3080rtx i have 50/65 fps in new atlantis but in the lodge i have stable 120 fps, wut?

- Game have not raytracing
- Textures on some planet are not really great and on some buildings you can found stretched and blurry textures
- quality of some normal npc's faces, are terrifying

Game have really good quality of models and textures of ships/items/props/armors/weapons that you can look in your inventory. I'm really not sure what really have so much impact on the game performance, but i start thinking it could be draw distance of objects.

In previously bethesda games there was slider on it and in starfield its gone. I think the draw distance of models/objects is abnormally large and it could causing performance issue.
FPS in various locations is too weird and have zero sense.

If not, you might as well get a console.
Black Raven Sep 3, 2023 @ 1:30pm
something wrong with your rig, coz i seen worse computer running 50+fps smoothly on med-high, which is lot better than you would get on a console.

ie
Ryzen 1600X with 5700XT
