I got to a part where the UC show up but i ♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself. It seems all the recruits that were done by the raiders are helping too 🤦🏽‍♂️ shot myself in foot!

Agreed. It's just obnoxious at this point.

I actually just figured it out (I'm playing for the UC in this playthrough so I don't know how it'll work out for those of you who sided with the pirates).

So I immediately turned around and boosted away till I was about 3-5km away from the pirate ships. From there, I let my wingmen do most the work as I sniped from a distance. Eventually some pirate ships made it to me but by then the UC carrier showed up with the rest of the fleet to clean up. About to board the Key so hopefully this part of the mission will be more enjoyable (I'm definitely siding with the pirates in my next playthrough though; much more fun and way more benefits than siding with the UC so far).

The mission is horrifically unbalanced. I ended up using the godmode console command and a mod to keep achievements enabled to get through the space battle. The guide for the mod I followed is on the TroubleChute YouTube channel. His instructions differ from the instructions on the NexusMods page he links. I followed the instructions in the video and they worked for me. - the achievement popped when I finished the mission. And the console command for godmode is "tgm" without the quotes. Remember to turn it back off again after you're done with it, in case a game update invalidates the mod and your save file becomes marked.

You can get yourself a really good ship and legendary armor from the Mantis quest. I managed to tackle this quest using that ship. Also
1. If you managed to give enough evidence to the LT. Toft you should have more UC ships show up to help you.
2. Spare/help/pay NPCs during the questline, they will later show up to help you if you choose to side with crimson fleet.

This helped me, hope it helps you too.

yes this part is much more easier
I do believe there a way to reduce the number of pirate in the mission by betraying the pirate , however you can get more reinforcement with the more proof you bring

I gave up and just turned the game to "Very Easy" for this particular ship battle quest. I got tired of constantly reloading. Once I turned down the difficulty, it was still hard, but used the technique of finding a stray ship, running in, locking it down, blowing it up and then hauling ass away from the fray until my shield came back. I also quicksave'd after each ship I blew up. If you don't have ship parts however to repair, you're pretty much screwed.

I don't like ship combat so hadn't done ANY modifications to my first and only ship except to add those two modules you HAVE to add for the quest thread. I'd prefer to not have to put experience points into ship stuff.
This is my favorite mission and that is my favorite part. A faster and smaller ship design is very helpful. I also recommend using your boost to break missile lock, and keeping enough boost to do that as needed. You can stop boost use by tapping S.

Finish the Freestar Collective quest line and get the 'Star Eagle' ship. I don't recall this fight being particularly hard.

Use auto turrets on the side of your ship. Helps a lot. I use the alpha wave but if your lower ranked use any auto turret that does good hull/shield damage.

Sounds like its sposed to be a higher level mission. I turned in the core and started the final battle at level mid 40s and had no problems on hard mode. Class C ship with ~35reactor, 1600shields and 4x particle beams smashed up the pirates easy. They did almost get through my shield which hasn't happened in a while...

I see people complaining about this battle all the time. I didn't have any problems with it. I might have been using the Star Eagle at the time, I can't remember.

if your on the side of the CF then get in close to the Key and snipe from there in stead of trying to fly around in the midst of the battle , the UC tend to leave you alone, just completed it in a large cargo ship..
