Mods not working (Nexus Vortex)
Anyone else not able to get Mods to work?
I installed 2 simple Mods. One to slightly change the UI, the other to change the color of the Mantis Armor. Neither work.
StarfieldCustom.ini created correctly. Mods installed in the correct folders.
I have never had a problem modding any game before. Ran hundreds in Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Cant figure out what is wrong with Mods not working in Starfield.

This seems to be the case. I couldn't get mods loading either. So what I did was:
- directly edit the Starfield.ini inside the game's folder itself, and set it readonly
- dumped mods in both the My Games & main game Data folders
- launched the exe directly.

Worked after that. I don't know which factor made the difference, but loose files load properly now.

I deleted mine and made another from scratch and added

[General]
SIntroSequence=0
uMainMenuDelayBeforeAllowSkip=0

[Camera]
fFPWorldFOV=90.0000
fTPWorldFOV=90.0000

These did not work, so I can only surmise that the game is not reading the .ini file for some reason.

Make sure it is a "ini" file and not a "txt" file.

... could of sworn I made an ini file not a txt one. Thanks that was the problem for me. Now to install the Achievement Enabler and wait for some interesting mods. Right now only one that caught my eye changes a portrait in the lodge to Todd Howard. Its an essential mod.
Congrats. I wish I was that lucky.
Trying everything, but still no luck

BOOM!
This worked.

I'm thinking it might be launching from the .exe instead of through Steam is what worked. I will do some testing later.
Im just glad I got it to accept Mods.

Thanks.

I’m having the exact same issue.
I’ve already installed Achievement Enabler. It works great as I tested the in game command prompt for level 100 and it unlocked lvl 25/50/100 achievements 😅
But any armour colour, HUD, FOV mods aren’t working either in Vortex or when attempted manually.

You have to add an ini file to tell the game to use mods.

Ahh I set up vortex to run the .exe file directly... I should have said that.. because I have the GamePass version so it asked me to point to where the game was installed.
Someone is developing the SFSE (Starfield Script Extender similar to what they have for FO4) this should help with starting the game through it so no more fiddling with .ini files, only works for Steam so far sadly.

So from my testing adding the Mod contents of the Main Game Data folder to the Documents/My Games/Starfield/Data folder is what allows the StarfieldCustom.ini to recognize Mods.
You dont have to launch the game from the Starfield.exe. Launching from Steam works fine.

I've read this whole thread and I'm still having this same problem. I've been making and modding bethesda games since fallout 3 and have never had any problems with vortex or nmm before now. I'm just confused.

If you are using Vortex you probably forgot to actually hit Deploy. Because of the virtualization feature of Vortex you are required to hit that any time you add mods. I'd put good money on this being your problem.

Hope this helps :)
this worked and solved all issues

Having the same issues, have tried everything I see here and in other forums, have tried manual and vortex. Game just refuses to see any mods of any kind and this crappy console inventory UI is killing me.
