ini file location

my custom.ini file isnt working the only thing different from my folder then all the tutorial videos is where star field is installed. mine is in the commons folder in steam not the "my games" folder can anyone confirm this is my problem?

it's supposed to be named StarfieldCustom.ini not Custom.ini and it should be placed in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Starfield\

how do I create a %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Starfield\ path
is that done by adding a library in steam?

To navigate to the mentioned folder, follow these steps:

Using File Explorer:

Press Win + E to open File Explorer.In the address bar at the top, type or copy-paste %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Starfield\ and press Enter.

Using the Run Dialog:

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.Type or copy-paste %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Starfield\ and press Enter or click OK.

Either method will take you to the "Starfield" folder inside the "My Games" folder in your personal "Documents" directory. If the game has been installed and has created this directory, it should open without any issues.

I need help with this too because there are no ini files on my pc for starfield, my games folder in documents is emty.

Indeed!!! I deleted it from my pc but it still has files, I guess I can just migrate the files over to where they should be. I got everything working anyway.

you just create a txt file and rename it to starfieldcustom.ini

even the pcgw instructions say so, try reading

so i JUST found the folder that the ini file is supposed to be in. onedrive like others said. my ini file was in my root game directory, Can i just move the file and it be fine?

I have the Starfieldcustom.ini file. I don't have the Starfield.ini file. Is this normal? Or is there somewhere I can dl the .ini. I want to mod the game. But many mods that I want says just the ini file not the custom.ini file.

Make it yourself. I mean really, just copy paste the ones thats there, rename it and blank the data on it.
