low FPS with a 3080

Playing at 4k, high settings and DLSS, 66% render quality.
Getting between 40 and 50 fps everywhere. is this realistic or should it be a bit higher?
I might upgrade to 4080.

It's the first game where I can't reach 60 fps unless I set most settings to low.

I have the same setup as you and the framerate you're getting seems in-line with the performance I'm getting.

Since you're running the game at 4k, I'd try turning down the resolution scaling to match what would be equivalent to DLSS Performance, in which the rendering resolution would be 1920*1080 and see if that makes a better difference for performance.

Yea I meant the DLSS mod, it increases my fps by around 5 more.

Your mistake here is to play this game at 4K.

Yea that's what I thought, it's the first game where I can't maintain 60 fps even with DLSS on balanced. 3080 is an awesome card except the memory but it's also aging now.

I just wonder why the game uses so many resources it doesn't even look that great, mediocre graphics at best.
I can get 60 fps if I turn render scale to 50% and DLSS but that looks really blurry.

I'm running 4k on ultra settings with all the defaults and getting average 77fps with a Ryzen7 7800X3D/7900XTX combo.
The CPU thing that people have been saying is not an issue for me as it hovers around 3-5% utilization most of the time. The highest I've seen it peak is 8%. Maybe that is an Intel problem, I don't know.

The game is fracked somewhere.
Check the Hardware Unboxed Optimization video, it helps.
(6900xt running with no upscaling and getting 80+ nearly everywhere)

I have no problems running this game at high quality with a RTX 4070. Your 3080 is actually slightly faster than my 4070 -- it just uses 120w less power do do 10% less work (and supports DLSS 3)

I'd give you a clown, but it's not worth it.

Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT turn off pagefile. Lots of stuff can break if you do this.

Nah I've seen CPU loads of 60+ on 5800x3d while in New Atlantis. There are parts where the CPU is hammered.

the game is poorly optimized for Nvidia GPU's and intel gpu, i have 3080 aswell

I have a 3080 and I'll be playing at 1440p. If I can't get a solid 90 fps with decent looking graphics I will refund.

What I like about this game is that both my gpu and cpu barely using their fan, dead quiet.
