Does Anyone Else Miss Star Wars Galaxies?
When I first heard about this game about a decade ago, I thought to myself, "Oh! Maybe it'll be something huge, with all kinds of things to do besides your usual online game". But then, knowing Bethesda, I got that they probably wouldn't dive into an MMORPG.

In SWG (pre-NGE), developing your character really meant meeting people and exploring the galaxy with friends. The economy depended on the players; architects, doctors, entertainers, weaponsmiths, ect...all could live in a virtual world with others and interact. In fact, my Bothan weaponsmith, Warspawn, would take custom orders from Naboo/Corellia/Tatooine and make sure I was exploring and harvesting the best materials I could find for them. I'd even hire other players I knew to help me get to that rare metal place I needed on Dathomir which happened to be way to close to a Rancor nest...

This game just begs for multiplayer. I know it won't happen, but what a missed opportunity. With Chefs, Industrialists, Professors, Long Haulers, Beast Hunters and Medics, it's SO just set up for player interaction and an economy based on what players can supply and exchange (both goods and services; think about someone beeing an a$$ and contacting your local Bounty Hunter :steamhappy: ).

At least there's no level cap. I really like crafting at times, so even if I need to get down and dirty exploring an old prison on a frosty planet for some information, or jump into a ship so I can introduce pirates to the new 'breath vacuum' skill, going into the lodge basement for a few hours in order to modify my spacesuit and laser rifle isn't a waste of time, nor will it hurt my progression in the combat arts.

-- but OMG...wouldn't it be wicked cool to make that weapon/spacesuit for a friend or customer rather than just yourself? --

If you took the time to read this, thanks! I'm really enjoying the game. Solid 60fps with NO stutters or issues on Ultra with a 38" 4k Predator monitor. It's beautiful!! I sat for a solid 12 hours yesterday playing with some Doritos and Mountain Dew barely even knowing I'd been playing that long; the only thing that distracted me were the bathroom breaks

There's an emulator. I tried it, but like lots of older games it's a slog. You always miss how something new felt. Not sure if you'd miss it after trying it again now. Go give it a spin.

You can still play SWG I did last year and the emulator servers were quite full :) Bst thing about it was the "Jump o light speed" expansion. Lets hope they do something like that here.

I absolutely adored SWG, especially before JTL. I was so young that I didn't really grasp all the mechanics, but I just loved exploring the world and hanging out at my guilds city.

Every now and then I'll jump on a private server for a hit of nostalgia, but it'll never be the same.

I dearly MISS SWG! I basically got Starfield because of those memories, even though I knew it was only single-player. I'm usually a fantasy girl, going back to the original EQ/WoW/DAoC days. But SWG will always be my favorite.

So what if you didn't want to go out questing to kill a Krait? I'd be fine in camp as a doctor/entertainer helping out the party with recovery. My friends built robots, tamed pets, built cities and designed spaceships. Something for everyone...

I'm enjoying Starfield; don't get me wrong! I actually got up early to play this morning :) Just had to grab some coffee when I saw this post (and it's running great on an old MSI 2080 at 1080p with zero issues).

Maybe Ashes of Creation will fill that void for a really open-world(s) MMORPG. We'll see!

SWG Legends look it up. Its not an emulator and picks up where the game left off, and is well supported. They added ship to ship docking and Besbin (cloud city) with player housing.
SWG emu is a rebuild of the game in its early days when it had like 16 professions. Truly you have great options if you want to get back into SWG.

Yup, fun times!

I remember running around FOREVER before we got vehicles/mounts in SWG. That was painful, lol! Especially with having a respectable death penalty and going to a cantina to watch some players dance and play music to recover from my wounds...

I just died my first time in Starfield and was a bit worried about the results. Sigh...nothing. Kinda took the edge off when it just reloaded from where I left off without any pause.

I loved that game. Still play it from time to time. I really miss the depth and complexity of all the professions and sense of progression. Games now days may look better but are so shallow compared to older games like SWG, and multiplayer was so much better back then when live servers were the norm compared to the junky peer to peer most games use now.

That one was a shot right into the heart.
We need more image designer in MMO's not cashshops! :D

Yes bro. Galaxies was so damn fun. I remember the end... partying with everyone on Tatooine as the servers shut down

OMG!!! I remember being in Mos Eisley for that!! Things like that sure stay in your 'fond memories' file. After I unlocked my Jedi slot doing Image Design (it wasn't bad; tons of chit chat to pass the time, and I worked for tips), we had a little 'Jedi Council' of the few who had made it at that point. Had to avoid Bounty Hunters and Empire types; perma death was a thing to be avoided.

We'd basically have some of our guilds seal off a good leveling area so the Jedi's could get exp and level up without fear of getting jumped at 1/3rd health after a fight :steamhappy: That's some epic memories...

Warm blanket awarded there for you while you reminisce, Yuki!

(Damn this board scrolls by and buries posts FAST. Maybe people should be playing the game *if they actually own it* instead of worrying about pronouns and skin color, lol!)

Oh well, time to figure out how to kill Larry Dumbrosky on that star liner without setting off the ship firearm alarms. Maybe try a knife? I have a silenced pistol...but....hmm, we'll see.

Yes! Success! (Story with spoiler below for a bump, lol!)
So, Sara and I were able to fake a life support emergency on the starliner. THAT put the entire ship on lockdown. I found Larry Dumbrosky's cabin while he was locked down in it. Snuck up and ended him with my knife quietly. Took what I wanted from the corpse, and then put his mistress' room key on the body (it's the little things; luvin' the Ronin life!).

Earlier I was able to persuade (awesome skill to have, btw!) the person with the purser's office safe claim ticket to give me the passcard for the safe where the trophy was stored. With everyone in lockdown, this should be a complete success!!

*edit* FRAAAAKK! Whole ship is after me, even when silently killing him with a knife! I guess I should have just picked his pocket or persuaded him to give over the GalBank stuff I needed....sigh.

Star citizen is good enough i am not sure why people always have to hate one like the other
Star war galaxy is more similar to star citizen than this one really

I play Star citizen i play this and BG3 i don't see why we have to like only one game.
