How to save photos in photo mode gallery...?
Can someone tell me how to save the images you took in Photo Gallery? Cuz I press space in photo mode but it turns out that my Gallery is still empty. I heard that the photo you took is gonna be your loading screen, and I really love this feature... So plz tell me how to make that happen, thx a lot!

Spacebar should work unless you remapped keys. Maybe a permissions issue saving to folder if you didn't remap key and game is still not saving to folder, though if game is saving your saves at all it'd be weird to not also save your photos as it's same overall location in Documents.

The pictures you took with the photomode are here (totally intuitive folder name incoming!):

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\Photos\

There you find both a thumb and the original size of your photo =).

So your first step should be to check if that folder exists. Users who use Microsoft OneDrive might have some issues there - e.g. savegames make trouble there as well. So you should try to exclude the game from OneDrive and make sure the folders the game need really exist. For the OneDrive-Mumbojumbo check this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1716740/discussions/0/3824173464657559824/

Running on Proton, permissions seem fine. I can save, I just can't save photos. The folder does exist.

For those looking into this on Proton, the folder is at:
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1716740/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Starfield/Data/Textures/Photos/

THX for your reply, but no, I didnt remap my keys... Well, I guess its just a bug then, cuz my game saves are fine and I have the PHOTO folder, but its just empty, like myself. Thank you any way!

Well, I tried to capture the photo using PrintScreen and put them into the folder and it worked...So if you wanna have the Photo Mode Loading Screen you may want to try this method :)

I havent try it on SD, but I guess this is a bug...well on PC you can capture the photo yourself and put it in the folder (Though the Gallery is still empty) and to have it as loading screen. Not sure about SteamDeck though..

On Steam you can just enter photo gallery mode, do all your fancy adjustments like adding frame and poses, hide the gallery UI (T is default), then use the F12 key or whatever you have set in Steam to take game screenshots, then manually move to your gallery folder in documents. You don't need printscreen which is just a temp save to clipboard is the TL;DR: of what I'm saying.

Though I'd check that your antivirus etc isn't blocking save access to that folder to try get it working properly.

True Nords wear NO PANTS!
Had this same issue, went to C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\ and saw there was no photos folder. Created one and hey-presto the photos I take in Starfield now save. Well worth investigating this just in case the "Photos" folder doesn't exist.

NOTE: This folder DOESN'T exist in the steamapps folder where you installed your game, but rather in the path listed above.

only realize it's not working after dozens of pics, i was thinking i'll look at the journey so far. Tried manually putting some screenshoots in the folder, still nothing

Yes, this also worked for me!

I took dozens of really cool photos just to notice an empty photo gallery. I have the photo folder, but it's empty. Really sucks.
