Its your pc... not the game
I've played star citizen for years, and if anyone thinks the performance is bad with Starfield -- well I can say it really is your pc settings.

So im running 3080 Strix ROG, with 5900x ryzen 9. Running on 3440x1440p ultrawide 21:9. Im getting 60fps at lowest, with mostly around 90-130fps -- smooth, no stutters, most graphic settings on high/ultra. I've seen countless threads of people with better systems getting worse performance, so here are a few things you need to check;

Graphic Card Settings (nvidia control panel)
- Set your Shader Cache to 10-100gb+
- Enable NIS upscaling

Gforce Experience App
-Add starfield so it becomes eligible for the inbuilt upscaler.
-click settings and set 75% upscaling.

Game Settings
-Dynamic scaling at 50%
-FSFR at 75%
-Partical quality: low
-Shaders: med/high
-reflections: low
-Lod: disabled
-bloom: off

Nvidia ingame reshader (Alt+F3)
Filters;
- Details: Increase clarity to 80% and sharpness to 30%
- Color: Add blue tint and bloom effects
Note* these will give the game a more photorealistic look, typically blue color tints will do this, but games reduce it and add green to reduce glare/eye strain from blue light. Its like reshade but no performance hit.

Vortex Mods:
-wait until their is a proper DLSS upscaler, the current one does not do frame generation and is gimmicky. This will help boost frames significantly, but without it you can still get above 60-120fps with comparative hardware.

Download to SSD
- It says to do this as a requirement for the minimum play specs. Id say a lot might be having stuttering from downloading to a regular hd. More ram would help too. But if you're hard crashing, thats probably due to overloading vram on graphics card. Best way to drop vram is lowering resolution or texture quality, also LOD draw distance.

For the map sizes and level of detail, objects ect... its on par with Hogwarts, Cyberpunk... perhaps better than. These same titles I get around the same FPS on similar settings -- and its three different game engines.

Do I think the game is optimized? Nope -- can still get way more performance out of it once modders get stuck into it. The only real gripe i have with the game is that its not multiplayer..... yet.

I read your Comment to the Point of NIS and the Ingame Upscaler. Come on Bro. NVidia Upscaler and the Ingame Scaler? You scale it down to under 1080p. In this Case i have your FPS too but the Game is a blurry mess.

The Thing is, the Game looks, let me say "good" but not Mindblowing. For this and what we get, the Performance is absolutely bad in my Opinion.

No, it's the game, it's BEEG CHUNGUS! And I won't sacrifice my sandwiches for it!

the recommended specs for this game can scarcely run it, lol

my 3080 i9-12900K struggling to hold above 40 frames 4k max. i get a 30 fps increase if i switch to lowest? game is just optimised poorly.
JokiseOlli Sep 2, 2023 @ 2:01am
So i need to upscale it from 480p to 2160p in order to run the game propely thanks for the heads up /nosarcasmobvs

No, I have 3080, 32gb ram, 5950x, only nvme drives. Game looks like absolute ass even on max graphics, not even comparable to cyberpunk in any way, not lighting, not detail in models, not in texture resolution. Shaders are same as fallout 4, lighting is a bit better. You must be almost blind to not see the huge difference. I get 30-50fps if theres anything, 90-100 when there's empty map, this is 100% games fault without a doubt, this is the worst performing game that looks so mediocre I've seen in a decade. Its just very dated engine, that bethesda is not capable of improving anymore.

lol what is life....

i7 13620
RTX 4060
DLSS mod (FSR Replacement)
getting around 90 fps on all ultra 1080p and DLSS set to quality preset

BTW to all the kids that think 4K gaming is relevant... no it aint... games are not meant for 4K yet... 1440p max, shouldnt expect more than 30 FPS on anything higher... same issue was when games went from 720p to 768p to 1080p...

Half the people who complain are just trolling.
The rest are mostly moron.
A few have driver/material issues.

I would say that 100% of all these complainers dont understand videogames and think that if they pay 2K for a gaming rig 2 years ago, its still worth 2K today but they forget the fact that PC should be upgraded every 2 years... And you can upgrade every 2 years to 2 years old HW but shouldnt expect new games that are just out to be perfect... The Last of Us part 1 and Hogwarts Legacy have super bad optimization even as of now and they are out for quite a long time on PC... In most cases the way I see it is that people are dead on with GPU but 4 or even 6 years back with their CPU that cant keep up... or have slow RAM... or have the game on HDD cuz they thing every game is CS:GO... Yes Starfield looks odd, loading everywhere and is the second worst game of 2023 (first is Baldurs Gate 3 due to its RNG no skill turn based combat in maze style maps)... That being said, 99% of the time its user error...

I think some of them are just lying to make the game look bad I have Seen live steams of the game running fine and the recommended system specs not really demanding

If I cant land on a planet without loading screen is that also my PC's flaut ?XD
Eli Scrubs Sep 2, 2023 @ 2:36am
cant believe the game can reach past 60fps on a 2000$ graphics card at low setting, what a revelation dude! your soo smart!
BadGizmo Sep 2, 2023 @ 2:39am
Running a 3060 at ultra and its locked at 92 fps with no drops. Haven't had a single fluctuation, no stuttering at all so ya if you got problems it's probably the fact you didn't install on an ssd or you don't have a good enough cpu(apparently it's very cpu heavy).
