Bit confused by the negative reception from people here
What exactly were people expecting this game to be? The only thing I'm genuinely let-down by is the lack of DLSS support (AMD exclusivity deal? Really?) and the overall performance; which just isn't really acceptable considering the fairly mid graphical fidelity.

Everything else is much better than I expected. The combat feels responsive and good, even if the AI really struggles with the nav mesh in this one. The facial animation is LEAGUES better than previous Bethesda produced titles. Voice acting work has been superb quality so far. Space combat feels fun but perhaps a little too simple in the long run. LOVE the UI, like seriously - if there is one unsung hero here it's the UI design. It's so simple and neat.

I went into this expecting an upgraded FO4 in space, and it's so far surpassing those expectations by a landslide. It's way better than FO4 in everything except performance.

I think there are alot of people expecting to play a modern game on a calculator. I've got 6 hours in so far and touch wood (pats head) i've had no crashes and only glitches have been a couple of minor NPC sillyness where the robot at the start got stuck in some rocks, and a background npc spawned in mid air and dropped to ground. Other than those two things ive had zero issue and performance has been smooth with no frame rate drops i've noticed.

I'm running 3440x 1440 (165hz) monitor with everything maxed out. 5900x, 3080ti, 32gb ram and SSD. So not exactly super up to date spec.

Seems to be some of the issues are people playing the game on an HD instead of an SSD and specs that are not exactly that up to date.

I also think there's an element of people forget how the base games of fallout 4 and skyrim came out before they had numerous patches, updates and modders went wild.

The DLSS thing is really unfortunate.

A well designed game can have scalability to suit various systems. Bad design and programming leads to it being only able to perform on high end machines because it's easier to make inefficient code compared to the higher skills needed for consoles and esports where they need to have locked in hardware or cater to as broad an audience as possible. The old "the players can just upgrade" attitude has really crippled coding skills over the years in the PC market.

I might be lucky enough to be over the requirements but I know most in the world will not be and won't be in the foreseeable future, basically blocking out the majority of the world who aren't privileged.
