Storage
Is there somewhere I can permanently stash excess weapons, resource parts, etc?
Ship storage is limited, so that doesn't count.

you have 2 storage containers that your starter ship has. Both are in the cockpit. You later get your own room at the lodge with another storage container you can stuff things in. There is also future homes or apartments which you can add whatever you like to. Early game you can also just use the robot with a bag as a head for just that..store everything.

companions, and the ship both have limited storage space.

I do not see a player storage in the lodge

ship has a player storage and infinite global storage. They're close to the captain seat, global storage is very small, they face each other

The "captain's storage" is infinite global?
Is it's contents accessible when crafting in the lodge, or when making outposts?

I didn't notice the cargo and storage station next to the helm for the first two or three hours after I got into the ship and was poking around.

Instead I was trying access ship storage from the cargo bay at first and then prodding the storage bins at the back of the living quarters. I even tried the galley and sleeping niche.

I must have looked directly, or in passing, at that storage station console a dozen times or more before I realized that I had a prompt to access it. I felt quite silly.

Feel pretty dumb, hah!

No you're wrong.
One is ship storage, which is based off your cargo hold module(s).
Captains storage is the other, idk if its based off anything, but its only 40kg. Very little storage capacity.

Neither of these are infinite.

Better than nothing, the extra 40.
…but I just double-checked myself too and, yeah, neither infinite (unfortunate, but much more understandable to be honest).

Not really.

Theres a reason fallout 76 still gets significant complaints, even with 1200 max, and ALL scrap/resources offloaded to a dedicated infinite bin.

once you get the perks to install better ship modules it's not a problem. my cargo holds 6k at the moment. I'm only using 3k and thats from my 4 outposts gathing/mining

Also, getting into the crafting perks and researching suits and backpack mods you can hold up to 1k on your person
