Fair point. I do agree, it's not the strongest intro. I still love the rest of the game so far though.
"Did ChatGPT write this intro?"
Extremely cliché and shallow.
But yeah, the main story seems to be standard sci fi trope story as well.
It's basically the same main story as my own tabletop roleplaying campaign for Traveler that I wrote myself when I was 14. I just threw in all the tropes and clichés. No surprises.
And i honestly think Bethasda is getting worse.
Skyrim - meh but okay
Fallout 4 - actually interresting and immersive to some extent not a masterpiece but good
Fallout 76 - lets just pretend this game doesnt exist at all
Starfield - ...
I dont expect much from games - but with games like Witcher 3, BG3, even Cyberpunk shouldnt they at least try to improve their storytelling - it doesnt have to be a masterpiece but a bit more than this shouldnt be a problem.
To be honest - i dont even get the point of the intro at all - it adds absoutely nothing to the game - its just chaotic and seems to make no sense. Its almost like the Magicka Story - but its meant to be serious ...
Even the planets seem uninterresting and repetitive - it was okay with the first Mass Effect - a decade ago? But in 2023 where even an indie game creates interresting random planets - No Mans Sky?
Well i will see hopefully it gets better soon otherwise im not sure how long i can force my self to keep playing hopeing for something better.
Last but not least - when games are sold at a premium price now - even sold for more just to play the game on release - i expect way better quality.
Its also amazing how they never seem to fail to make an even worse Inventory system - i mean every single Bethesda game has UI mods as Top Downloads because how bad their UIs are - yet tehy seem to learn absolutely nothing.
No. But if a mod project can do it - why cant Bethesda - for example:

To be honest i was looking for that endless space, adventure, tech type of feeling - i really like space games etc. but i already have problems even motivating myself to play it at the moment.
Okay i should have made that more clear. I am only talking about the story.
The intro in this game is THE HORROR.
And that's before Fallout New Vegas' "you survived a headshot somehow, here's a pipboy now get out of my house" intro.
It was still better than this - this feels like one of those medicore intros but thea put it in fast forward and removed any logic.
And as someone else said they also had nice Intros - i for example really enjoyed the Fallout 4 Intro.
Also do you remeber the boring intros from morrowind and oblivion xD?
To some extent yes - but also because the scope and detail was new at the time. I cant say that for Starfield at all - especially since the world doesnt really feel open - it feels more like fast-travel from small map to small map.
It feels as if they took a great theme but used nothing of its benefits and took every bad mechanic of other games of the last few years and made it into one big game instead of taking the good mechanics.
