I found a hat! It's called a Settler Adventure Hat, and I found one for sale at Shepherd's in Akila

Edit: No luck on a permanent outfit yet, but Jesus Christ this hat took forever to find. I don't know if you can loot it anywhere, but I can confirm it can come up for sale at Shepherd's

Final update, there is another option for a guaranteed way to get a full brim hat, as well as a nice outfit for this aesthetic, but like anything worth having, it comes at a price. Significant story spoilers ahead.

During the course of the main campaign, both the Lodge and the Eye come under attack by the Hunter. During this mission, you may choose to either go straight to the Eye, or stay at the Lodge. If you stay at the Lodge, everybody there will live and escape. However, since you don't make it up to the Eye in time, Sam Coe dies defending the station. Not long after this, since he was a follower, his belongings are added to a chest in the basement of the Lodge, with a notification telling you so. There, you may retrieve his outfit, as well as his hat, and 24 rounds of 50 caliber ammo. A very costly and gruesome way to obtain this outfit, but a surefire way nonetheless

Edit: After beating the game, I believe that this process might work *slightly* differently than I thought. Spoilers ahead again.

Basically, the during this mission, your 4 potential romance partners are scattered across the two locations: Sarah at the Lodge, and Sam, Barrett and Andreja on the Eye. From what I read online, if you choose to go to the Eye, Sarah dies, no exceptions. However, if you choose to go to the Lodge, *whichever one* of the 3 on the Eye that you have the best relationship with will die. In my case, that was Sam, because we had done the Freestar Rangers questline together.

I've also found the hat at shepherds in Akila city at LvL 11 and in a locker as rng loot at lvl 12, idk if the lvl is a must.
The duster from the trailer i found while doing the Ranger quest line its an outfit from the main antagonist group. idk if you can come in contact with them without joining the rangers.

So in an "all outfits" video on YouTube, the guy clearly shows an outfit called Freestar Dustwear, which is the coat. But I can find literally nothing on it anywhere else.

Anyone have updates on where to find the dustwear? I can't imagine they really just don't let you have it unless you mod it in, seems lame. I did find the first officer outfit which is like an armored duster, but it's not as cool.

Update: Complete the Freestar faction missions

i have seen several people say to finish the freestar collective missions, but i have, and i have gotten a ship but no duster. Why do people keep saying this, are they just copying each others comments?

One way is stealing from Sam or another type in console

it will add Sam's hat and jacket

PS: Sam's jacket seems to be a special item and can't be equipped though, it looks on my character as it is not wearing anything.

Technically you don't need to complete the Freestar quest line, but it's on the second to last quest "First to Fight, First to Die," and you can loot the uniform at the end of the level. I guess it's not really a duster, but it's got drip for sure.
