Sneak attack?

My skill says I have to do 5 sneak attacks in order to advance that skill.

I have been in sneak mode for almost every fight so far. I have yet to get sneak attack. Do I have to literally sneak up behind them like a back stab?

Based on my experience you just need to be in stealth mode when initiating an attack. This will count as sneak attack. If you are being spotted before. It’s not a sneak attack anymore. Btw. I just used pistol to fire…no stabbing.

The game is bugged too. I’ve been at 6/10 sneak attacks and have seen the in game notification many times that I got a sneak attack.

This game lacks true stealth mechanics...it's a gamble on using any form of stealth and a kill.
You can be right behind someone in armor with chameleon , I have 4 in stealth 1 in concealment and i still have a 30 / 70 on killing your target while using an epic radioactive knife or even with the epic Wakiazashi. The game lacks a stealth take down with melee and stealth knock out if you choose to just subdue the target.
Sniping seems to be a crap roll with stealth too. I can take out more targets out of stealth than using stealth.
