Starfield Won't Maximise
The game seems to launch fine, but it is minimised in the taskbar. Clicking on it won't maximise it. Anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

Hey! Try running the game as administrator, it worked for me

Thanks for getting back. I did that...didn't work for me. I ended up having to go into task manager and maximising it from there every time I start the game. Not ideal but it got it working for me.

Hey i got the same problem.
Open your Nvidia Controll Panel on the Desktop, go to 3d settings and then to Programmsettings.
Search for Starfield in the first tab, if its not there, add it.
If Starfield is selected go to tab 2 and search for Vsync and deactivate it.
Then try to start the game again.
let me know if it worked. =)

Do some faux-quick typing on your keyboard then say "enhance!". It's really exciting

Or, edit in the StarfieldPrefs.ini file:

[Display]

bBorderless=0
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920

Use your proper screen res values.

Funny that you have to get into a configuration file to make a game run maximized in Windows...year 2023.

It runs in borderless window mode since DX12 does not have exclusive full screen. ALT ENTER will bring it full screen and back. Sometimes this works even if clicking it on the taskbar does not maximize it or give it focus. All this means is the game is busy and is not processing Windows messages or is behind and the message is sitting in the queue.

Opening Starfield in the Steam library fixed this for me. It was normally maximizing the game on launch, until I installed the beta version.

This works only for one gamestart. My problem were the settings. I have an NVIDIA GPU and in the settings was an AMD setting on. After right settings the game never crashed again.

For the next Bethesda game, you'll need a degree in computer science just to install it!
