Using the console disables the achievement system
Is this prohibition permanent? Or just for this archive? Will the disabled achievement system still exist after starting a new game?

per save

This is something that has been in bethesda's RPG games for a long time. No, newly created saves will not have the achievements disabled and one of the first mods to usually get released with their new games is a mod to disable that entirely, so just try to avoid console commands until then if you want achievements.

Just opening the console will not disable achievements, it will prompt the warning though. As long as you didnt actually use a command you're still good.

My entire Steam account is locked out of the achievements window for Starfield because I accidentally hit Tilde. I typed nothing in the console, just hit escape to back out. Now, not only is my save locked out of achievements, I literally cannot even see the achievements that my friends are getting.

Oh wait, I restarted my Steam client and now the achievements are accessible in Steam. Weird!

Wasn't there a game where all you had to do was exit and start it again and that went away?

how does that work with NG+. before finishing a game you could console in 100 skill points.

would the NG+ have achievements enabled if you didn't use the console, but are still benefiting from cheating with it?

same thing happened to me, its some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, they dont really matter in the long run but it kinda messes me up.

unless this is just because of early access and they'll unlock on release.

I restarted steam, the game multiple times, no luck.

I think I borked the achievements in my first save last night - I was fumbling to get out of a menu I had activated accidentally in the middle of combat, hit the ~tilde key and didn’t realize what I had done, then keyboard mashed trying to get back to the combat. 300+ hours in ELDEN RING on a controller has ruined my WASD reflexes AND brainwashed me to think combat in all games continues even in the menus. So my panic-banging screwed something up, I think. I realized it this morning when the first achievement I had gotten last night no longer shows on my Steam profile.

Think I’m going to wipe that save and start over - fortunately it was only a couple hours, much of it “wasted” trying to tackle an outpost full of baddies I was woefully underleveled for anyway.

So I added 100 credits to see if the command worked like in other games. It did, I loaded an older save and i still cant get achievements.... any way to "un mark" my save as "cheater" or whatever it does

There is a mod on Nexus already to re-enable them. Follow the instructions in the discussion portion of the mod page. I always up my carry weight to like 10k in Bethesda games and then play normal, so bugged me that it disabled things.

Thank god for modders. NPC started floating through the damn ceiling so I had to use noclip just to finish main quest. Most polished game yet my ass.
