FIX for "Failed to create a save file"

First with the game closed, open windows security and select "Protection against viruses and threats" then select "Manage settings" then scroll down and look for the option that says "Manage controlled access to folders" once inside click " Allow an application through Controlled access to folders" and inside click on "+ Add an allowed application" select "Recently blocked applications" and there should appear "Starfield.exe" click on the "+" to add it and it should work.

Never had that ♥♥♥♥ enabled and still having issues.

Solution/workaround FOUND:
what i did is i created new local windows user on the PC.
run the game from there and the save started to work.
test loading the save and re-save, it’s working fine.
however will have to use this new local user to play from there since i couldn’t play on my main windows account user. even after i resolved the issue.
so the only way for now is to play on local user.

The thing I found to work for me was disabling the "Controlled Folder access" in windows security. This feature has created other problems for me with different games and programs.

FIx/ work around for not able create a saved game error
Step 1 : Go to settings and create/add a new user to your PC.
Under Account options, account type needs to be changed to administrator

Step 2: Log in to the new account login and launch steam
Option: 1 Play the entry-level till you can save(recommended)
or
Option 2: Change settings and see if it saves your changes made

Step 3 : Open a folder and click on documents

step 4 : Go to my games and locate Star field ( if you open the folder and you created a save file in the game you should see the folder and saves

step 4 : Copy the SF folder

step 5: Open your main Drive where Windows is installed

step 6 : Go under users/user name where you want the file to go and paste the folder inside documents and past as administrator

step 7 once you run SF on your main account it should run off from were you left off

this is what worked for me hopefully this works for you all .nothing els did till i tried this .....good luck .

this worked for me thank you so much! i had to manually create the path C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Saves , but that didnt work by itself
