Not sure on the link right now as I didn't save the zip.
But I did some tweaking afterwards anyway.
But it's worth tweaking for your exact monitor to get it just right.
I had to play around with the "SDR gamma boost" setting to get the best results
Thought it was just me.
1. Windows 11 got an update to correctly enable Auto HDR when the Steam version of Starfield launches. That will take care of the brightness.
2. https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/323 - This mod removes a filter the game has that ruins the contrast for their "style" they wanted in the game. You can see the insane difference in the screenshots.
After that mod is installed it should look a lot better. I now get true blacks on my display and with HDR update I'm getting the brightness now as well. I don't think I saw this mod in the thread.
I get that some things are a matter of conserving expenses, but lacking support for a display type that isn't totally obscure seems no different than hobbling one's own product (in this case color issues).
IIRC another Bethesda (published) game had display issues due to color (my monitor is IPS with no HDR technology) and this was corrected on my end with a SweetFX preset and tweaking. Maybe some kind of ENB or similar would fit the bill? A lot of Bethesda games really are best played a year or more after release when modders have had their time with it. Not much help, but in my own way I can understand where some of you are coming from.
Black levels don't appear crushed on my display since the HDR update. Regardless looks miles better than the default game...
