Steam forum for Starfield 2 will go live in 2030. Game will release in 2040.

I know it's a joke thread. But realistically? Elder Scrolls VI will be next. Most likely coming out like 2028 or 2029. After that will be Fallout 5, Probably like 2035 or whenever. I wouldn't get my hopes up for Starfield 2 before the year 2040. Sounds crazy but it takes longer and longer to make games. Remember, there will be like 16-18 years difference between Elder Scrolls V and VI.

Unless Starfield will be an insane success exceeding their wildest expectations. Maybe they would increase their team size by double with more Microsoft backing and could develop 2 games at once.

Yeesh, 10-15 years easily. But I'm hoping for just a bunch of DLC for this version.

Yeh 25yrs sounds reasonable life of original add on continual dlc then modding on top of that wont need a new game for decades. which mean I will not be seeing starfield 2

Elder Scrolls VI = 6-8 years

Fallout V = 6-8 years

Starfield II = 6-8 years

18 years minimum.

After the Fallout 4 4K upgrade and then after Elder Scrolls 6.

Between their focus on quality and sheer inability to clone Todd Howard so that there are two Todd Howards directing their games, and also the single Todd Howard in existence not getting any younger - I find that highly unlikely. They do acknowledge the issue of their titles getting longer and longer to develop, but they can't really do much about it other than acknowledging it.

And in a way, it's a very good thing for the consumer. For at least two reasons:

1) there won't be a Call or Duty or FIFA effect, when a game needs to be shipped every year - it's hard to come up with new concepts and make the game feel fresh and exciting every time.

2) there will be a lot pressure on the games to be a commercial success - so unlike in the past, when publishers often forced developers to release half-baked games early, it's the publishers who will actually delay games for additional polish just like it was done with Starfield - because the alternative is a decade of development time and a huge pile of money going down the drain, not to mentioned ruined reputation for the company (cough cough CD Project Red) that will make it problematic to sell other titles in the future.
