FYI Be smart how you buy this. Its on xbox game pass
Starfield is on xbox gamepass and if you want the early access you can instead pay the £35 for the premium.

Your well reasoned approach has no place here

A lot of people don't want a gaming subscription service. They look further ahead and with a broader scope then simply one single purchase.

you can also just buy the premium edition here on steam. Play it tommorow up to the 5th of september to see if u like it doesnt matter how many hours u put in and can still refund it as long as you refund it before the official release date of sept 6th. =)

Pro Tip: Nobody is going to let you refund a game you played for 60 hours. Get serious.

I would rather permanently own it on my Steam account than rent it on Gamepass. I'm a working adult who doesn't always have as much time as I would like to play games. I might sit on a game for months or years without playing it, but I do fully intend to play it eventually. Doesn't make much sense to pay a subscription to sit on a game I'm not playing. Besides, this is a Bethesda RPG. After the initial playthrough the majority of the fun will come from modding, and it's easier to mod the Steam version.

Yep main reason I bought the premium edition so if it's bugtacular I can just refund it.

I'd rather just own the game.

Not to mention that gamepass has a 14 day trail for $1 (at least for me), so anyone that doesn't have gamepass likely get to play it for 14 days for a single buck.

I would assume it will be made easier this time around since Microsoft owns Bethesda. Time will tell though.

Are you sure? I'd think after 2 hours they'd not allow that. It's the only slight reservation I have for playing right away before reviews

Bethesda games tend to have extreme longevity through replayability. Especially as the modding community around the game pumps out more and more mods. We are talking years and years of replaying the game. Starfield, like most games, will only be on game pass for a limited time. Whether that be 3 months, 6 months or a year. eventually they'll pull Starfield from game pass, then you'll end up just having to buy the game anyway if you want to play it again.
