Traveller is Old/Obscure .. but good.
They're finally getting a digital version which might do it justice.

You should put together a one-shot; sell it by telling them it's just a single game, tailor it to their interests. If nothing else, you'll get a game.
Or join an online game; that's how I got into Traveller

All we need to do is get some modders to whip up something that can cause your character to die during character creation and we’re good.
