Unpacking CPU Usage, or download on release?
I don't want my CPU at 100% usage when unpacking for an hour lol, I am not sure how Bethesda Unpacking is but if anyone knows, can you tell?

Like Horizon Zero Dawn Unpacking was horrible and took over an hour for some PCs.

My internet speed is quite fast, then you have day 1 patch. Lol I think download after release (EA)

Download on release. I'm not worried about the CPU usage. I'm worried about the 260 GB SSD life due to pre-download + decrypt.

i have a 256GB M.2, it has over 4tb of write's to it, no errors, it has maybe a 700tbw rating. i have a two 4tb samsung EVO drives i use as deep storage for various things, both with less then 4TB written with something like 1200TBW ratings, they're less then a year old and both heavily corrupted. you can get a 1tb SSD for like 60$ or so.

I'm confused, how is a pre-load downloading any different than downloading at release? Why would the compression and unpacking strain on the CPU be different with installation? Not completely denying the issue, just curious on the details.

not really how it works.

and it all depends on your cpu. if horizon zero dawn took 1 hour i would question a lot about your pc.

Both are compressed the same the only difference is that it decompresses as you download once released.

preload is held as a pending download still, it's encrypted so people don't get into it as well.

good question actually. im goin to preload and test out my new nvme ssd

The trick is to place your PC in a ice bath before you start the unpacking process. Make absolutely certain that the water level is high enough that the case is completely submerged.

People who freak about their 100% CPU utilization are the same type that would buy a sports car then never put it above 3000rpm because it "strains the engine".

Unless you write 1000s GB a day to your SSD it will be outdated and replaced long before its cells are warn out...

better play the game at lowest settings and lowest resolution you don't want to stress your gpu and cpu to %100.
it's absurd people think about those things.
fwarlinger 30 AGO 2023 a las 5:41
If you don't use all of your CPU why didn't you just get a lower tier one?

I know right. As if 100% is bad. SMH

If you are having CPU usage issues.. You need to upgrade or get a better PC. It sounds like you are using an Intel i3 or lower

I'd skip the download if your processor can handle the load, there will be a lot of people downloading the game, unpacking isn't network dependent

My CPU has dozens upon dozens of Cores,
So I will probably be playing a game, watching a movie, and talking to a friend while the game is unpacking.
