Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is fun while you wait for Starfield
I found a fun space game that was released in 2020 that I missed somehow. I bought it and played for 25 hours the last few days and thought I would mention it to all the waiters here in the discussion room.
It is the second game in a series. The first one I did not like as much as this second Game.
This game is well made and made me have fun. It is kind of immersive once you get the ball rolling.

There is alot of dogfighting, you can mine if you want, or be a trader. It kind of reminds me of Freelancer, Eve, Dark Star One, No mans sky. It is a good space game while waiting for the super fancy AAA games that take years.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is basically a space roguelike with ship progression. Be warned, you will die alot, even if you think you are the last starfighter.

Yeah Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is a cool game indeed - Reminds me of a modern version of Privateer from back in the day and i loved that game... :cozybethesda:

It is mostly dogfighting in space, and it gets very difficult. You have to play the game for many hours to get to the real content.

I saw people complaining about how hard the story missions were, and I think it was probably because they did nod grind missions and upgrade the ship enough before trying harder story missions.

Flying through the large battlefields does kindof remind me of Wing Commander three, minus all the wingmen. You can call on a NPC friend to help you for a couple minutes at a time after you unlock them. Most of the game is you solo against the universe, which is how I like it.

As far as space games go, it has very nice complete loops for gameplay.
Replayability is there too. One game you could choose to be a Pirate, another game you could choose to be on the side of the law. I been playing a good character , and it is great. I can see there is content locked just for pirates I will never see this run.

Path of Exile is way better than Diablo 3. I bet its better than 4 too. And its free with eons of content. Diablo might try to wrestle their hack and slash crown back, but it will take a miracle to get it back from Path of Exile.

I just found out you can kill enemy ships with the mining lasers. In Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. Hehe cool , I always wanted to do that in Eve. But mining lasers do no damage in Eve to ships.

I played Rebel Galaxy for an hour. I like Rebel Galaxy Outlaw way better for its combat.

The D4 beta was better than Path of Exile could ever hope to be.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw has infinite missions. And the difficulty is increasing the whole time. I dare you to try and farm the same system for 20 missions. The game is huge, much more content than I originally perceived.

It reminds me of alot of these spacegames we are being promised, except for you can play this one.

PS Diablo sucks after the fist D1 and D2 masterpieces. Torchlight was better than Diablo three. I hear 4 is plagued with generic dungeons too. Grim Dawn is better than Diablo 3. Path of Exile has ten times the content of all the diablos put together, and it looks better and is free.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is a space game , while Diablo is not. Diablows Rebel Galaxy Outlaws is a lesser known Space Truckers Opera. You decide if you want to be a pirate , or if you want to help people. Then you try and bend the Galaxy to your will, while fighting several factions in the different systems. I think you can even be a space cop, but I am not sure.

There are huge amounts of loot, but you have to be careful what you carry , and where because Space cops do cargo scans randomly. There are some Good, bad, and neutral stations. You cannot offload and sell the illegal cargo anywhere, you have to find a Black market, or occasionally some markets will buy 1 or two items off the naughty list. Sometimes hovering in a black market system can get you very rich, or very dead.

I have played it for more than 50 hours and am still doing story missions. You have to upgrade your ship and buy better ones to be able to complete the story missions You can also find companions to call upon when you find a fight you need help with. Sometimes you have to give up on a mission and go to another system after dying so many times. The radio stations give you hints sometimes. The nice thing when you buy a new ship is all the gear gets swapped over to the new one.

I like the sandbox elements where you can mine, be a hauler, Or you can be security guarding Giant convoys form pirate fleets and choose what characters you want to help. Although I see most missions should be done possibly to unlock more of the story. The story missions sometimes add options , or show you how to do different kinds of new missions by putting you through them.

While I wait for Starfield I will play Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. Bannerlord is a great game too, and so is The Total War series, especially the new Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires Giant Map campaign.

Yeah you should always just go with what you hear over trying it for yourself.

/s

It plays better than Path of Exile and will be hands down the best looking isometric ARPG out come June. The dungeons I actually played, instead of just listening to what others said, were unique and fun to play through.

I would love to believe it, but after the letdown from 3 , I just won't believe it. I don't need to play it after watching the videos. I did not need to play Fallout 76 either. All the other Fallout games were great though.

What made D1 and 2 special and the feelings the game gave you were lost on D3. That is why Path of Exile took over spiritually in purpose for the game.

If Diablo went back to the styles from Diablo one and Diablo 2 then maybe it would be worth playing. Dungeon seige series is better than Diablo 3 was. Neverwinter nights diamond was better than D3. Mario was better than D3.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw puts the player into more control than most space games that make all your decisions for you. It is kindof like a dungeon crawler in space. I certainly hope it gets more attention, because it deserves some praise and success. I think maybe they should have advertized and it would have sold a bunch more copies than it did on release.

You have to play it for twenty or thirty hours before you really see what is happening in the game. And that is just the beginning.

D4 is much more like D1/2 as opposed to what D3 was thats for sure...
