Starfield coming out at a bad time…
We have open borders, gas prices rising, fentanyl all over the place. Heck even masks and COVID is “coming back”. Mental health is at an all time low. Most families are not trying to focus on buying more games right now - but instead the security of their futures. I feel like this is going to effect Bethesda greatly compared to previous releases like Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout ect.

How so? Baldurs Gate 3, another RPG, just had the biggest launch of this year so far. I think Starfield should be doing good. I doubt gas prices or "open borders" (what does that even mean or have anything to do with video games?) have any influence on spending habits for video games.

Video games are great therapy for all of the above.

As long as you aren't skipping school or losing your job over them.

They are great therapy, when enjoyed in moderation.

They are the great escape.

None of that matters when a million games are dropping so close to each other. I'd rather see it from that point of view instead.

When times are tough, the availability of distraction is important.

It's an escapist route for some. I gave up on humanity back in 2020, and now the internet is just a boring, heavily censored, incredibly biased wasteland full of argument addicts and fools. It'll be nice to have something to play and just forget about it all for a bit.

I agree. Let's delay it until we fix all the problems in the world.

You seem to think that there was a moment when the world wasn't about to end. Your naivety entertains me.

Don't have to worry about gas prices or Covid if you are in your house playing Starfield all day.
