Out of all the misinformation being spread about SC, that's actually true. A lot of backers have multiple accounts and the player count on the website counts it as new players.

While it is true people do this, The amount of people who do this can't be large enough for the kind of claim he's trying to make.
Otherwise we could make the claim that the only reason Bethesda games are successful is because of people multi-buying it on pc from console in order to mod it.
Most streamers have two accounts tho, that much is true.

plenty of people complain about finding people from time to time on reddit posts
most of those sites have inflated numbers
a lot of people have verified the numbers dont match up with the lack of matched players

IIRC this website uses Reddit engagement data to estimate player populations. Which... doesn’t work when the SC subreddit is spammed with marketing accounts and bots. Although it does give you a good idea of just how much the subreddit is being manipulated.

I mean, to be fair this is a bait thread comparing Star Citizen and Starfield as silly as it is. Don't see the issue of people discussing either game. And there is a lot of misinformation being spread about Star Citizen, which isn't surprising considering this is a Starfield discussion section and people get oddly offended by these kinds of things for whatever reason. To be honest I didn't even much care about these silly comparions of a singleplayer rpg and a space mmorpg, but the amount of mis-information is what sucked me down the rabbit hole.

Edit: I have my own issues with the game and I've been a massive critic of it before (I got a banned thread on the official forums over it lmao)
But the level of ignorance here is staggering.

The numbers stated vs the numbers present . back track with the reddit congrats and the twitter posts numbers are inflated .

Want proof? they do a full wipe of your entire progress for every big patch. It's an incomplete game from a company that does not respect your time and dedication. Only your money.

It's an alpha game, They aren't the only Alpha game that does that. I play scum as well and they wipe from time to time as well. Silly and stupid thing to complain about from an alpha game who'se economy won't be the same when the official game releases.

Hell if they didn't wipe the player economy would be broken right from the start. in 3.17 last year I owned 16 ships in game and had a little over 300mil credits.

Edit: Show actual proof instead of crying about something that many alpha games do.

Just because many alpha games do doesnt mean it's acceptable. It's only an indication that the game is far from complete. So when it's been like that for 10 years, it's safe to assume it might never be complete, They charge up to $1000 for 3D ships and people keep buying them.

From a business standpoint I don't see any reason why the heck you would you stop being in alpha if it's that easy to squeeze money out of people. The most expensive game ever made becoming the all time slowest game in development is an amazing irony that could only come with greed.
