BOUNDARY REACHED
So the Planets have boundarys? Please tell me this is not true :(

EDIT2: Boundarys have been reached in 9 minutes on Earth....

EDIT: Please read this and make your own judgement
Further leaks from the Chinese leaker, this one is the most disappointing:

Every time you set a manual landing zone, a new world seed is generated. You aren’t exploring a patchwork of different cells that constitute a planet. You are loading into a procedurally generated, new world space every time you land somewhere new. So, for instance, if you place two landing spots directly next to each other, those both represent two separate world seeds. The globe you see when you get to a planet is an illusion. This means if you land, then walk to the boundary of an explorable area, then reland your ship on the border so you can continue your journey, you aren’t leaving from where you left off, you’re just generating an entirely new procedurally generated worldspace to explore.

Bummer.

Give me 8 talented programmers working their asses off together in a tiny studio to create a masterpiece than the woke youngsters they got working from home at Bethesda these days
Nah man, you misunderstand the context of my blabbering.
If Hello Games can do it, why the hell can't Bethesda, the other guy is trying to defend potential lies.

Engine limitations

Starfield is a storey driven action RPG. not a sandbox open world simulation like Bug Citizen.. I mean Star Citizen. who cares if it has a few cleverly disguised loading screens. If it does then dont play it...

Bethesda's RPGs have always been open world sandbox. They practically invented open world. Starfield will be no different.

Imagine Daggerfall but you cant wander for more than 10 mins around the last place you parked your horse.

It would have been fantastic to be able to choose your own route on a favorite planet to explore for days (resuming in each session), discover its places, some milestone, some secret, see some unique landscape that no one has seen before, climb the highest mountain or descend into the deepest crater, take some photos, and enjoy the adventure seeing different landscapes between each location, mining, or random encounter. And at the end of the day share your experience knowing that for all players the map and locations will be exactly equal. Bethesda or someone else might have created a website for players to localize and name special or interesting places they discover. It's about exploring the worlds. A single person cannot walk the entire planet, but thousands of players can.

Instead of just wandering around the ship on random maps.

My feelings as well. I would have rather them waited an made a better system tbh. If on top of all the rpg stuff they had the atmospheric flying and seamless traversal, the game would just be perfection. I'll still be happy as long as every other feature is good though, and I really hope they are.

I played NMS on launch, and was one of the few who enjoyed it. Just being able to do what you do in that game is amazing, and a historic milestone for space sims imo. The way they showed and talked about Starfield, it's expected that a lot of people expected NMS + Fallout/Skyrim. Can't wait to try the game myself on Thursday.

It is true. because what you just said fundamentally means when you land it isnt a whole planet, just creating an instance, and when you "move" a new instance is created. It seems clear however that the landing areas are not contigous.
Cool I'm glad it works that way, I wouldn't want to run 5 hours back to my ship
