Is there really early access for preorders?

I believe I read somewhere that if you pre-order the game you can get access to it 5 days before the official release, is this true?.

Already bought and paid for and activated it on my steam account ( did not purchase through steam paid less for the premium edition that steam was selling the standard edition for ).

Yep, you will be able to preload starfield on the 31st or 30th cannot remember that part, however you can and will be able to click that green play button on the 1st of September if you have preordered.

The official date for early access is five days early from the official release date of 6th Sep 2023.

Five days early is the 01st Sep 2023
some regions may have it on 31st Aug 2023 because of their region and start time to be fair that means a really odd hour start time. The 01st of Sept 2023 or for any date and time for that matter is always different slightly based on regional date and times.

Never never never was 30th ever considered a play time for anyone other than closed door private copies.

Please expect an official announcement regarding this topic in the next few days. It will convey the world map with all dates and times accordingly. It will tell you when you can pre-load Starfield and when you can play Starfield in your respective region.

and dont forget its Midnight time for most of us.. for me in sweden, i can play it 2 in the morning coming up to the 1st.

I think this is how Steam works. They only show the official release date on the store page and not early access dates. The same thing happened with F1 23. I pre ordered and got access to the game several days early but the store page always showed the official date.

Yeah that's exactly the same thing that happened with me with Remnant 2's early access, it will always state the actual release date but the game will unlock and allow you to play it earlier without any issues.
