Someone just posted the background for ronin on /v/: “Masterless and unbound, you wandered the Settled Systems as a blade for hire. To some, you were a simple mercenary. To others, a hero. And to a select few, a nightmare they could never wake from.”

Starting skills are Dueing (melee weapon proficiency), stealth, and scavenging

Ronin is the actual background and I think they really mean a mercenary who knows how to use a sword, not a honest to god Samurai in Space, though if I can play it like I'm Sanjuro I will.

A ronin isn't an assassin dude. Its a mercenary. So you COULD be a killer for hire but that's not like the focus.

Using melee weapon in a space traveller game that has a lot of guns is weird. Even weirder if your melee weapon isnt something fancy like light saber or beam sword. Ronin might be the class with worst starting skill or starting skill really doesnt matter at all just like fallout 4.

Not really. Look at the colony where people dress like cowboys? It's like you didn't really pay much attention. Not weird at all actually considering we still give soldiers knives when they have a machine gun with tons of ammo. You seem to be trying to base your logic on reality when this game also has space magic.

Yes, but hitman would be closer to a ninja than a ronin, a ronin is just a masterless/ unemployed samurai. :)
