From what gameplay I've seen. It's essentially Fallout 4 with a new coat of paint.
Same sort of look, same animations, even some sound clips as some were mentioning. It looks and feels like Fallout 4. That doesn't necessarily mean the game is going to be the worse thing ever but I think it's been massively over-hyped that's for sure.

Like my god Todd Howard, just use a new game engine that can actually be considered modern. If you were just going to make a game that looked and felt like Fallout I'd just prefer to have another Fallout game.

Who knows, maybe the game will be fun and enjoyable but will it be groundbreaking? No, it's essentially just Fallout 4 from 2016. The Engine still makes it look dated.

They'll have to really compensate in terms of RPG elements, gameplay, story and just about everything in order to compensate and I'm not convinced they'll achieve that.

It's creation engine 2.0, so they updated their engine, but they work with what they know and they do it will enough that people keep coming back. Yes, it is effectively Fallout in space, with a LOT more freedom and customization, so that isn't a bad thing and is likely why the game is so "Hyped" as you say.

Someone is sweating hard right now over this...

Well with any luck the game will actually be good, but the fact it looks and feels like Fallout 4 means it has to compensate in all other areas of the game.

From what they've shown in trailers etc, it's clear visuals aren't really what they're going for here. Bethesda's always put gameplay ahead of everything else, jank and all. It looks good enough to play anyway.

I mean, does anyone really play a Bethesda game for the amazing graphics ever?

The characters in Skyrim were some ugly funk even when it came out and people have been playing it non-stop in different iterations ever since.

just use a new game engine it's literally that simple lol

:steamfacepalm:

New hugely improved Fallout 3/4 with space flight and planets added to it?

Sound great to me. Nothing wrong with it. Why kill a successful formula?

We have seen enough sequels to games falling flat on their face by going "innovative new" (mostly by adding tons of monetization, loot-boxes, on-line only, Game-As-a-Service and more of that "nice" garbage stuff)...

So yeah... No problems here...

don't play games expecting to see something groundbreaking. that happens maybe every 10-20 years and the devs for that game spent too much time on shrinking horse testicles than designing gameplay.

I like the idea that bethesda used procedural generation. I hope more games adopt the same approach since it's not a bad idea if you have decent foundation but unfortunately people with little to no interest in educating themselves shirk the term procedural generation

That's exactly what's expected so that's nice.

It can ruins games though. We Happy Few would have been WAY BETTER if they did a linear map. Either you go full survival stuff or you don't, but the mix can be quite disappointing.

Doubt anyone is terribly concerned about what someone considers groundbreaking when their first move is to oversimplify Starfield as some variation of Fallout 4.

Easy to assert that a product can't achieve unrealistic expectations when you don't define any of them in the first place.

How about you wait until it's released, play through it for a few hours THEN pop of your opinion. Instead, you're just spouting off BS on assumptions... Pipe down.
